It is not meant nor does it detect people. The manual specifically states: Cross traffic alert detects vehicles that approach at a speed between 4–37 mph (6–60 km/h).

It only detects Vehicles or Things that approach at 4-37 MPH. People do not set it off unless they are sprinting or are on Skateboards/Scooters/Bikes etc and moving at 4 MPH or faster.

Do you not remember last year when MY22 orders with a scheduled build date got canceled. Having a scheduled build data on a MY23 is no guarantee that it will get built. If it doesn't get built as a 23 and you have no order in as a 24 you will not get your Maverick.
