  1. Regrets with your engine choice?

Yeah, I was wondering about that as well... I've owned three VW Jetta TDIs, and never got less than 34 mpg, no matter how hard I abused them. More typically it was around 42-43, and I've "hypermiled" a few times to get it well above 50. I kind of regret turning mine in during DieselGate, even...
  2. Maverick Memes - fun diversion while we wait [ ** NO POLITICS ** ]

Gotta disagree here... The one on the left is actually pretty cool! I'd be seen in it, for sure!
  3. Maverick Memes - fun diversion while we wait [ ** NO POLITICS ** ]

OK - I realize this is about a million posts ago, but I couldn't resist... Au contraire, my friend. By the time his Hybrid is delivered, they will "fit" just fine...
  4. Maverick Memes - fun diversion while we wait [ ** NO POLITICS ** ]

For the record, the first car I ever drove was a VW Combi (van) with semaphore turn signals... The second was a Ford Model T. I'm "only" 66 years old, but lived in Brazil, where old cars were kept alive for a looooong time. The VW Combi had at least 480,000 km on it when we had it.
  5. Hauling the ELECTRIC BIKES...7k miles, 42.1 MPG avg...Lovin my Maverick Hybrid

Yep - that's the KEY point, I think. Ride like a normal person, and people just treat you like a normal person. Ride like an idiot, and people try to ban ALL e-bikes. A little courtesy goes a long way!
  6. Hauling the ELECTRIC BIKES...7k miles, 42.1 MPG avg...Lovin my Maverick Hybrid

I strongly disagree with your opening statement... The vast majority of jurisdictions allow Class 1 & 2 e-bikes to be ridden anywhere a regular bike is allowed. Some places restrict the use of Class 3 e-bikes on their trails, while allowing the Class 1 & 2 e-bikes. There are some (fortunately...
  7. MPG stats from 12 days 2804 mile vacation trip in my Maverick Hybrid XLT

Comparing the fuel mileage of the Maverick with something like an Insight or Fiesta is like comparing apples to watermelons... A better comparison would be to my wife's Impala. The two vehicles are within an inch in overall length, fractions of an inch in cabin width, combined seating height...
  8. Tonneau Cover Recommendations

When I get my Maverick, I'll probably go with this Trident FastFold Tonneau Cover. Looks just as good as the other soft folding covers that cost twice as much, and has excellent reviews. Easy on/off is a plus for me, and did I mention it costs about 1/2 what the others do?
  9. No more flats? - FlatOut ?

It works great in my e-bike tires, but I wouldn't put it in my vehicle tires because of the TPMS. Unlike the old "Slime" product, FlatOut remains liquid for up to 10 years, and will seal amazingly large holes. But it will definitely gum up your TPMS.
  10. Woohoo! Got me a Maverick!

Thanks for that tidbit... I hadn't even thought of checking the URL to see how they were setting the range!
  11. Creative Ideas for Dash Cubby Storage

That's because he hasn't bought his Maverick yet!:ROFLMAO::sneaky:
  12. Woohoo! Got me a Maverick!

Congratulations on your new Maverick. Around here, when one goes unclaimed by the person who originally ordered it, the dealers slap a $10,000 markup on them and won't budge from that price. I guess people are paying it, because I've seen a couple of them pop up and then disappear pretty...
  13. XLT vs. Lariat Debate

Not trying to change your mind on which trim level YOU should buy, but for me, Adaptive Cruise Control (which has full stop/start capabiity) is AT LEAST as useful on surface streets and in stop-and-go traffic jams as it is on the highway. It maintains the following distance (actually time...
  14. Acoustic Windshield

And to be clear, ALL trim levels would require recalibration, since the camera is used for a lot more than just the adaptive cruise control available on the Lariat. We had a windshield replaced on our Chevy Impala (no ACC) and had to take it back for recalibration, because the "lane departure"...
  15. Acoustic Windshield

I almost spit out my coffee when I read that... My dad used to say that products like that make the vehicle lighter... primarily by lightening your wallet. Paint protectants for $1,000... Cloth protectants for $500 – even for vinyl seats!... And of course the oh-so-effective "undercoating...
  16. XLT vs. Lariat Debate

Ordinarily, I'd strongly agree with that statement... But with used Mavericks selling for $8-10K over MSRP, the Maverick IS (at least in the short term) an APPRECIATING asset!. ;) (Written after 6+ months of unsuccessfully searching for a Hybrid Lariat Lux/360 at anywhere close to MSRP...
  17. Why did you order a Maverick? What are you going to use it for?

I'm 66 and retired. At the time the Maverick was first announced, we had a Chevy 2500 HD Diesel that we used to pull a 5th wheel camper. But even though my wife learned to drive in a truck (1970's era Datsun pickup!), and we've owned three other pickups that she claimed as "hers," she was...
  18. Spray in bedliner in the burnt orange accent color.

When I read the thread title, I thought "Oh, no!" But it actually looks pretty cool! I wonder if it comes in "bronze" to match the Lariat's trim colors...
  19. Cruise control

Interesting that it costs more than the parts to enable CC via the factory-provided "user-mod" capability described several other places in the forum. And judging by all the "stuff" that comes with it, it's gotta be a lot more difficult to install. I'm also more than a little bit concerned...
  20. Green plug engine bay near fuses

Service disconnect for the high voltage system. It's "opened" (which turns off the high voltage relay) when a service tech needs to work on the high voltage system (wiring, battery, etc.). It's supposed to be zip-tied in the "open" position with a "Do Not Reconnect" type tag attached, and only...
