Yeah, 4.0 inline 6 cyl. Easy to work on. I did mechanic job early 60s. Condenser n points n carbs then n drum brakes. Back up camera was rear view mirrors. Many vehicles had generators, I rebuilt many. Voltage regulator finicky ti adjust fir 14.7 volts.
1996 Cherokee Country. Loved that Jeep. My youngest son took over it. Started aging, trouble with it. He brought himself new vehicle. Not using it, but died anyway. So donated it to Purple Hearts.
Any rattle annoying.
Not related, but maybe it is, had a Jeep Cherokee that rattled. Turn out it was the cat converter, beads loose. They rattled when engine running. Had a muffle shop replace it. Quieter!
Few weeks after, Jeep issued a service letter About cat rattling. And would reimburse...
I asked and Blackstone reply.
“Yep, there is evidence of shearing like before. Shearing just means the viscosity is a little lower than it should be for the grade, and it's a characteristic of some engines. It's looking like that's the case for your EcoBoost, and that's true for many other...
I remember a Ford model A with v-8 Flathead going around country demo running without oil. Well, not exactly…it had Marvel Mystery Oil in its pan/sump. The oil that smells like medicine!
Copy of latest oil sample analysis of significant mileage of Motorcraft full synthetic oil. My focus is on oil viscosity values which historically has demonstrated low values, not within realm of the brand publicized specs. Be that the oil be blended or full syn. Also previous sample revealed...
Well that is not good.
I posted on this site of the rear end smashups. Trying to figure the how and why’s. From my experience when I was behind a Maverick, it seems to me it’s a vision, depth perception based on rear tailgate and back of the cab distances that makes it hard to judge nearness...
The truck factory fill oil was sampled before 1st change and its viscosity not bad. I elected to change to Motorcraft blend oil, considering it cheaper and to be changed sooner, again. That oil as well as another change reveals low viscosity, and suspected shearing. Switched to Motorcraft full...
For my truck, Some of the Blackstone analysis reports, reveals low viscosiTy #’s and shear. That is for both Motorcraft blend and full syn variety. Reports saying no concerns. But my beef is the oil not meet published specifications.
However I often wonder if Ford dealer Quick Change bulk oils...
Might help if one really needs it. Had it on my F250 diesel. Used it twice….1) leaking radiator, 2) replace a badly sooted EGC. I let it lapsed, then few weeks after, blew open up turbo intercooler hose. That cist me >$400. Learned this a common issue with Ford diesels, yet Ford not cover this...
On escape, try hooking up jumper cable when battery dead.
Lucky for me battery dead when car in garage. I made a wire harness with alligator clips to connect to battery post clamp so can hookup a charger. Lucky it started, took to dealer, let em deal with exchange.
I carry my own code reader, all times. Helpful when on the road, to do decision to keep driving or not.
One time in my old F250 got alert of tire pressure. Checked code on the WWW. Turns out interference. Wife on her Apple IPad, and thru RF, learn in some cases that interferes with tire...
Oh, that fable rattle and knock.
What I’m learning so far -
- AC defroster vent
- dash to A pillar contact, rubbing
- dash to windshield contact. Some, like I, add a T shape rubber molding
- plastic dowel/guide pin on windshield, factory stuff to aid windshield installation
- center...
Often get coupons from either dealer or Ford. But most imply using blend oil. I pay extra for full syn.
Next oil change will bring 6 qts Quaker State full syn. Recent sample of both blend and full syn reveals low viscosity and shearing. Not so sure what dealer bulk oil is. They say it’s...
When I send sample to Blackstone, I email, contact them letting them know, and add any details about the vehicle, it’s status.
After receiving sample report, reviewing it, if any queries, email them seeking answer. The outstanding query I been having was low viscosity and shearing. First...
