I agree, it's a lot more relaxing to take back roads, but those are few and far between...
In northern Arizona there are parts of Route 66 you can take, but I-40 is the only practical way to go east, as it's the only route in some parts.

Very different conditions out west where I drive, where a spare or a plug could be (relatively) safely swapped or installed. That said, I've had a lot more tires with slow leaks that I could just fill/drive/fill/drive/repeat than I've ever had to plug or switch to a spare.
I was just looking at Jeffy B's emporium, and I noticed that the M A V E R I C K letters are considerably more expensive than those for virtually every other vehicle.
