Sorry I couldn't help. It must be a settings issue somewhere. On my Mav (23 XLT, non sync) it doesn't matter what audio selection(XM, spotify, etc.) I'm listening to, I hear the Waze, or Google maps commands. Hope you figure it out.
If you go the gear icon on the left top of the waze screen, tap it, and at the bottom there is the ability to mute/ unmute and set the navigation voice volume. This sets the volume of the Navigation voice different from the radio volume . Hope this helps.
Does your Maverick have factory remote start- with the key fob (not using FordPasss on your phone)? If it doesn't its a different keypad (KB3Z-14A626-A) and maybe that's why it is saying it's not compatible.
I seem to recall others who had the same issue

There's a good thread on this (below) that may interest you, but as always, there's differing of opinions. The biggest thing is that you have concerns, so getting it right one way or the other, to make your towing experience better, will take some research. Good luck!
Weight distribution hitch...
All in good fun! Mine sat in my glovebox too until last month when I used it to wire-up a switch, USB, cig lighter combo in the truck bed. They're selling for $25 on evil bay if you need gas money...oh wait, you have a hybrid, so never mind.
