By cross-country trip I assume you are driving in the day and sleeping in a hotel at night and worried about your cab contents freezing at night? If this is the case simplest would probably be to just bring in the sensitive items into hotel with you. Alternately, I would heat water while...
You might be asking a lot of the Maverick if this is a long/frequent haul.
Cheapest will be to build (probably out of wood) which means youāll be in control of how safe it is. Youāll definitely have to load it flat on your roof as the kayak is longer than the Mav itself. It will need to be...
Re-bumping an old thread. Also looking for a small (powered) sub to add under the driver seat. Iām open to any brand (even generic ones). Just would like to hear some experience from a real-world Mav install (positive or negative).
This would be my recommendation too If kayaks were the only thing you haul (casually).
If you feel that you would use it enough, I love having a full (bed/roof) rack. I personally like the Xtrusion Overland racks (although I have not priced since I had a setup already). While I donāt have an...
Thanks for the great information. Seriously.
I really want to do the continental 48 for sure (especially with 20 states already crossed off). Alaska would be a dream to get to via coastal Canada drive. Hawaii is not as certain but your info is helpful should I ever pull that trigger.
Some random indoor tent shots.
Like I said I slept in various kinds of weather to really cold to really (triple digit) hot nights. I carried an EcoFlow Wave 2 with me which has the ability heating AND air conditioning capabilities.
I never did have to use it as a heater. On cold nights I...
Nice. Beautiful! 38.5mpg. Love it! That e-bike is pretty sweet too.
I wanted to head down the 1 through Big Sur on my way down but wasnāt sure if it was open or not so skipped it. Iāve done it before and of course it was beautiful but after heading down the Oregon coast and Redwood Highway I...
I wondered that myself. Not sure of the camper weight but itās not that heavy (relatively). Iāll defer to @dxpedition13 on the official weight of the Maverick Packout Camper.
Regarding overall weight my rear did sag but Iāll just say I was within payload specs. Thatās my story and Iām sticking...
Sorry I meant to put in this in the original post. I normally get 33mpg. Itās funny, as soon as I hit the traffic in Southern California my mpg started to climb again. Only got up to 20. 5 by the time I got home and has sat since. Iāll update later after I drive it around town again for awhile.
Just got back from a month long, 7,781 (driving) mile, cross-country road / camping trip across 20 states. Drove/camped in all kinds of weather and places across the country. I saw a lot of Mavericks (and waved to all of them) but am not sure if any of them were MTCers.
The Maverick, my...
