Took a trip down to Wilmington, NC on the coast, and the Bug Smasher lived up to her nickname. Got a nice collection of bug guts and had to stop just to clean the windshield off at one point.
Not sure if you can tell from the picture.
The wife’s Toyota has a bunch of blank button things, so we got a set of stickers from Amazon that say things like “EJECTION SEAT” and “OIL SLICK”, etc.
Something like these:
Looks like they found a way to get micro transactions in cars.
But seriously it looks interesting for a basic work/beater truck.
Having simple controls is a good thing, we have a relative who got a new Subaru like 6 months ago and they are “still trying to learn all the bells and...
No problem with the Maverick so far, but in general TPMS can be pretty spotty particularly on older cars.
After spending $700 a few years ago to get every wheel monitor and the central receiver replaced on the wife’s Gen 2 Highlander, we gave up when the light started showing a system error...
Neat. Been thinking about doing something similar.
But just don’t be like one guy around here, and drive with the LEDs turned on.
Some joker in a lifted Silverado with bright LEDs all over the place, even on the rims (not sure how you wire that). At night it looks like one of the space ships...
CR might not be as good at car reviews as they used to be, but are a good starting point. Been subscribed since the 90s and every time I’ve had reliability issues they have lined up with the CR charts.
They are still light years better than places like JD Power where getting an automotive award...
Poor Mav.
Could be some kind of hoarding situation or something? When I worked nights there was an employee car that was completely full of junk, literally only enough room for the driver to work the controls. It was a then new model Prius that was badly squatting on the springs.
Did that even fit? Haven't tried Aliexpress, but heard the stuff is pretty variable quality.
IRT topic, I like the small Ford badge. Using auto trim adhesive/tape for it? Should be heat resistant.
One thing to remember about the online complaints is that MTC represents a small fraction of Maverick owners. There was a thread like a year ago that calculated if every single registered MTC member was having issues it would only be around 2% of the total Mavericks sold IIRC.
Not saying the...
Actually last weekend, but put on MTC sticker, installed a nice USB hub with retractable cables and a volt meter. Also got the Mav festive for the holidays.
Unfortunately, in my case it's a gravel driveway and no garage. Should be interesting.
Have a relative with a paved driveway and garage, but they are 2 hours away. Weekend trip!
