It looks like it could be a soft loop tiedown strap so you don't connect the steel hook on a ratchet strap directly to something you don't want scratched.

I haven't experienced any battery issues. The truck has <1300 miles on it. I'm leaning towards it being caused by snow/ice on the handle. It is working fine now that the snow is gone.

I did not have gloves on. It is currently 24°. I just went outside and tried the door. I could both unlock and lock the door at the handle. Seems that it might have been a fluke or maybe some ice on the handle was the culprit.

Maybe you could try a fob cover? I use one and haven't had any accidental button presses. Amazon has several styles to choose from.

Has anyone had any luck getting the ECO Coach to work on a 25MY? I've made the 3 changes the spreadsheet calls for but looking through the cluster, I can't find anything in the menus to enable it.
