Use tin snips to cut the plastic trim. Little chance of marring the paint.
The Yakima landing pad lp22 uses a single 8mm hex head bolt to fasten it to the roof. If you want to use the predrilled holes removing the headliner might be necessary to unbolt the trim. You will need to supply the...
Look at some of the new nakamichi dsp amps. They are truly next generation and allow you to shape the signal to each of the drivers eliminating the need for a crossover. They also have integrated line level adjustment so you can hook it up to the line outs from the factory head unit. It does...
Yakima has their own track. It uses 8mm screws to attach it and an 8mm rivnut fits perfectly into a 10 mm hole which was the size on that Ranger video. I'm going to use landing pads instead of track but it seems like you could do the entire install without drilling into the truck using track...
That's great. Any chance anyone knows how to lower the headliner? Any place that trim is bolted into place wound be a good place to bolt on a roof rack.
Bolts for trim are really placeholders for accessories. The trim does not need 4 quarter inch bolts to hold it in place.
I got the Yakima lp22 landing pads, sky towers and 60" core bars today. The local ski shop was going out of business and they were 60% off. The landing pad mounts with a single 8 mm bolt to a riv nut I have to supply and install. The door arch is structural and I am sure there is plenty of metal...
I had a 2/21 build date, heard nothing and the tracker was not updated until 2/27 when I got an email that my Mav was built. On 2/28 I got an email that it was being shipped with an eta to arrive at the dealership for 3/21. Getting exited.
I'm facing the same dilemma. Mav is coming next week and the kayak season is beginning.
I want crossbars on the roof matched with two overhaul crossbars on the rear. It would be very versatile and carry my 16 foot boats with ease. Yakima has a custom install service and my kayak dealer is one...
Now that's what I'm talking about. I expect mine to be doing the exact same thing. A low rack, easy to load for a man that's tired of standing on a step stool to load his vehicle.
Let me disagree with with the notion that the future of hybrid technology is a plugin option. As time goes on, hybrid technology has diverged from the development electric cars. No longer is a hybrid an electric car with an onboard gasoline powered generator. The motors are different, the...
I have concluded that this vehicle is muck stiffer than most body on frame designs. Especially the movement between the cab and truck bed.
Given that, I am going to put a crossbar on the cab roof and two mounted to the bed to act as a ladder rack and canoe carrier. The flex of body on frame...
I looked at the plug-out power unit and it uses a huge air cooled inverter as big as some stand alone generators. Not practical. It is also not offered for the Maverick at this time.
The Ford Pro Power Onboard option is part of the DC-DC converter and inverter. These are integral parts of the...
The technology isn't that much different, the battery is larger and there are some other minor differences, (basing my experience off of my own research when I bought a C-Max PHEV)
Quoting the Car and Driver Review:
Ultimately, the 2017 Ford C-Max Energi’s limited EV range and hampered...
I had not seen that article but I knew that it was a consideration for future model years. The implementation needs to be done by Ford. Aftermarket implementations are pretty awful. I'm trying to gauge interest to see if it strikes a chord with folks. With that option and AWD I'd be tempted to...
I am faced with buying some sort of generator after going 5 days without power. Every time I talk about it the needs change. A whole house unit is $7k with all the switch gear and propane tanks. A 1kw inverter gen that runs on gas and would be handy at the job site and would run the fridge is...
I think 10x larger battery and reprogrammed motor controller amounts to a different concept. The Maverick is based on the inherent efficiency of the Atkinson cycle engine and using the electric motor to enhance the low end torque which is the draw back of the Atkinson motor and the best part of...
I was looking for a plug out option to turn my hybrid into a big generator for job sites and power my home in emergencies. Something much bigger than the inverter offered as an option. It turns out that it is more complicated than attaching an inverter to the 12 volt battery. The entire DC to DC...
I am facing the same issue. I like the Yakima custom install and the local Kayak Company will do the install of the track on the roof and overhauls on the bed. It looks like it will be a $2k option. I am open to cheaper options.
