I’m taking mine in on 3/17 to have it looked over. My hunch is that it’s a bad case bushing, which is causing the movement shown in the video I posted (above in thread). This video shows similar movement/symptoms on a Tacoma where the needle bearing (similar to case bearing) needed to be replaced.
Interesting. I’ll post when I find out about the tremor vs original model front cv shafts.
I do understand that adding the lift does put more strain on the CVs, but I think it’s a minimal amount. With my lift on, it still has ~3+ more inches of travel when you jack up the vehicle.
I have a feeling that the half shafts on the tremor are probably the same as the rest. Once the tremor is out I’ll speak with Ford parts to see if the part number is the same
@bgn @90south.
I’m in contact with someone from Ford’s social media team that has opened a case. I have also been in contact with my dealer. I’ll keep you updated as I get more information.
Looks like I may have an issue where the CV enters the transmission. The first video is the front passenger side (with no clunking issue or wobble), the second is the driver’s side where I’m getting the clunking noise and wobble). I know a little movement is normal, but this seems like a bit much.
Here are a few videos that show movement and the clunking noise I'm experiencing. The first two are a comparison in movement of the inner CV (where it connects to transmission). The Driver's side (where I'm experiencing the clunking noise and wobble) and the passenger side (with no noise or...

Having a similar clunking noise with mine and a wobble. It appears to be something with the CV joint. I installed a new CV thinking the original was bad, but still have the same issue. When I installed the new one I noticed a far amount of play where the CV enters the transmission. The clip at...
Keep us posted on the outcome once you get it looked at. I’ve heard of a few mavs with similar issues that aren’t lifted. I’m think it might be a bigger issue than the lift and might turn into a recall at some point. Hard sayin not knowin.
I replaced the CV axle and I’m still having the same issue. I purchased some larger tires, which have reduced the wobble a little, but it’s still there. If you get any info on what your shop did to resolve the issue, please share. I’ve checked torque on everything and I can’t find anything out...
The bummer is that ford probably documented that you have a lift, I’m sure they did with mine. Hopefully they don’t use that to void more repairs later on.
it does sound like your CV is bad by the high speed wobble and the sounds you are getting at low speeds. I’ve seen some discussion of CV...
Same issue?
I replaced the CV that I thought was bad (but is probably fine) and I’m still getting the wobble. Might just be a geometry issue that Rough County just didn’t address in the design. Seems to only happen when I’m accelerating from 10-25pmh, more so if I’m turning. No issues at any...
Replaced the CV. Still having the same issues but seems to be more mild. At a loss for what’s going on at this point. Might just be how it rides with the lift and increased CV angle. Real head scratcher
Going to install it myself so that helps cut the pain of the cost/lack of warranty work.
good luck with your rig. Hopefully it’s not a widespread issue. Folks with lifts will have to eat the cost if it’s not a recall issue.
