It's looks to me to be the plastic bumper. It won't rust. Order touchup paint from ford. Might be handy to have around anyway. Polish out what you can with something that is more than wax (rubbing compound I think they call it). What is left use the touchup paint on after wiping it with...
Won't you have to tell your insurance company anyway to fix the car you hit. Or are you going to be paying for that too? What did the people say who owned the car you hit? Did you take a picture of that damage. Could all be useful when settling up.
Mav is my 67th car/truck (on motorcycle 41 since last June). So happy to have this truck since 12/16. Every vehicle I owned was different than the one before or the many before. Getting a new vehicle is always fun. I don't hate anything, I adapt.
My 2 cents.
Use your windows and AC and fan. Lean how to be happy without a sunroof. Or sell it at a profit and order another Maverick and don't settle for one without. Cutting any hole in the roof in not a win no matter who does it.
Maybe it is a muffled vent since Lariet's seat material is more air tight (unlike the fabric in the XL and XLT models. When you plop your butt down on the seat and lean back the air must go somewhere. Maybe out this vent. Have you found a similar vent under the lower portion of the seat or...
Thanks for the information. It made me curious enough to look closer at the owner's manual and here are the pages with the relevant information that I could find.
Page 82. This has the 500-pound load rating you mentioned for the tailgate load. But I noticed it is rated using the upper...
Not sure if anything is needed. Dirt bikes tend to be pretty light compared to street bikes. There was a Maverick pictured with 3 dirt bikes in the back. You will have to be the judge if you want to change up how the tailgate sits, level or drooping. And if you feel it needs something more...
If you could find a 7ft loading ramp of steel, you could lay it in the bed (maybe bolt it in 2 places into bed where there might be reinforced cross members (no fuel tanks). Remove when not using it. That would spread the weight over a larger area and hold the front and rear down with the...
I don't have to jump ship as I got my Maverick hybrid already. I had looked at the Baja and thought about how it would be. No, never did more than look on Craig's List over a couple of years before I heard of the Maverick. Not a Subaru fan.
Before the Maverick was ordered I had also thought...

Said, "Will make up a spacer to keep the hook eye closer to the fender side of the top mounting point"
Good idea using hooks. Quick and easy.
A spacer would strengthen your method as the hook has less chance to bend the mounting stud being closer to the bed side metal. That is...
My 2 cents worth, ideas.
Maybe Ford should just send you the kind that peel off and stick back on (magnetic maybe). Or they could actually put your mailing address in their system to send you a new set every month till the 3-year warranty runs out. Better yet, Send a new set to your local...
Had a 2002 sport trac. Loved the truck hated the gas mileage. Sold it 3 years ago and been waiting for something. Ford solved my wait. It was time to buy. I see nothing on the horizon that will beat it.
Been using it all week to clear out an apartment for a friend. The soft cover is so...
True. Posting a link is easier for them. (y)
I just think members should get acquainted with the forum's search function as so many members have failed to use it at all and keep repeating the same questions in new threads.
After 1300+ miles in a month and a half owning, I can not remember a zap of any size in my XLT hybrid. Had some pretty dry and cold winter days lately too.
I think I found in the thread "Spacer lift VS spring lift" your post #10 where you talk about a hitch attachment that goes up to the bead removing weight from the tailgate. Is this the Motorcycle tire helper you are talking about?
The
problem with it is it is more expensive to make and my...
Again, The link does not work when I click on it. When I search for "rear tire helper" it does not find anything but my thread. Is this a link to Facebook or another forum site? What is the thread title you are talking about? Maybe send it to me so I can search for by title.
I am 73 so...
Link does not work and I tried to search and it says something is wrong. Can you provide more information?
You mentioned loading diagonal as an option but then listed some problems? To some, these could be problems but for most bikers I think not.
1. More time is not a problem. Putting on...
I'm not sure why you say, "The tailgate sees "SOME" of the weight when the bike is loaded, but not much". Unless my Math is wacko, it says differently.
My Hawk has a 47.1%/52.9% distribution on weight (front tire/rear tire). That equals 194.05 pounds front/217.95 rear. The blue bike in the...
