  1. Oil Changes - Dealership vs Local Mechanic

Car dealers are (generally speaking) an untrustworthy lot. I had my first oil change done by the dealer where I purchased my Maverick, but unless you can watch them service your vehicle, there's a nagging suspicion they're pumping in inferior oil or using an inferior filter.
  2. Why Mavericks are Hot (The Affordability Crisis) [⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

Last year, the ever popular Toyota 4Runner was hard to find, and you were fortunate to find a dealer selling one at MSRP. Yesterday I saw a video showing a dealer selling them with a $6,000 dealer cash incentive. While Maverick shoppers may not find any significant discounts in the short term...
  3. Traded my Maverick

How much did they give you for your Maverick on trade-in?
  4. My 4-day old new Maverick hit by a driver who ran a light. Will this be totaled?

If repaired, make sure the work is done by a reputable body shop with equipment to straighten unibody vehicles. With front end damage like that, the truck won't steer or track correctly if everything is not properly aligned.
  5. So Long 2023 XLT Lux, Hello 2024 Lariat Lux!

That's quite a spread. Good to know. Thank-you!
  6. So Long 2023 XLT Lux, Hello 2024 Lariat Lux!

If I may ask, how many auto websites did you visit seeking offers, what was Carvana's offer, and by how much did they beat the 2nd highest offer. Thanks.
  7. 2024 Maverick lariat Tremor key fob

Yes, mine is a Lariat Tremor.
  8. Automatic Car Washing Maverick?

There are new car washes where I live in FL, and I run my Maverick thru about once a month. I find the newer ones to be more harsh than the older ones, and the "dry cycle" produces hurricane force winds, giving me concern for my bed cover and bug shield. So far no damage, but I suspect...
  9. 2024 Maverick lariat Tremor key fob

I have a 23 Tremor, and the FOB only has buttons for lock, unlock and panic. No start button. I read in an earlier post in this forum there is a hack for remote start, but I don't recall where it is.
  10. Got rear ended this morning - hitch step saved my Mav

I understand the concept of controlled deformation as it pertains to accidents, but the item in question is made of quite thin plastic resin and weighs a little over a pound. I'll use it on one of my vehicles as a step, but I'm under no illusion that it will protect anything but the most minor...
  11. Got rear ended this morning - hitch step saved my Mav

Certainly not your fault. I'm a frequent user of Amazon, and in the last few months much of what I purchased turned out to be cheaply made. I'd caution anyone buying online to find as many unbiased reviews as possible.
  12. Got rear ended this morning - hitch step saved my Mav

I purchased this step based up the OP's recommendation, and I was beyond disappointed when it arrived. It's very cheap plastic, and that it protected anything is a total surprise. If you want to buy one of these steps, make sure it's made of steel with a heavy rubber coating.
  13. Any changes to come on 2025 Maverick?

Given the success Ford is enjoying with the Maverick, there are perhaps a half dozen mini trucks from various manufacturers on the horizon and soon to be released. If Ford tries to stand pat and make minimum changes going forward, the competition will eat their lunch in this segment and take...
  14. Upgraded Mabett Maverick Side Marker Signal Light

Wheels look fantastic. Are they OEM?
  15. Mabett side turn signals?

    Does Mabett have a website?
  16. Maverick Improvements

Excellent points. If you buy a TRUCK, and you're saddened because you got a finger nail scratch on plastic somewhere, then you probably bought the wrong vehicle. These are entry level trucks, and for what they're designed to be, I think Ford has done a commendable job.
  17. General Question

Speaking of oil plugs - has anyone switched to a magnetic oil pan plug to catch any small metal fragments that may have escaped the oil filter? Good idea, or not worth the trouble?
  18. Skid Plates

From what I understand, it has standard screw heads that are easily removed with a hex or torx wrench (I forget which) and doesn't offer any appreciable deterrence to theft. Toyota recently entered into a partnership with Miller CAT which manufacturers Toyota approved cat shields for several...
