Today at work a guy from another department asked me what the MPG was. Right after that the guy at the drive-through at Jimmy John's asked me if it was a Jeep. He then asked me what the MPG was. I've never been asked that until today.
I'm with most of the pack on the steelies. Those should only be put on a fleet/WT version of the Maverick IMO. You should be able to locate a set of take-offs from Escape, Bronco Sport, or other Maverick owners at a reasonable price.
Yes. I had to change a tire on my old Explorer on a very wet soft shoulder with my stock jack. Luckily, I had my old floor mats in the back, which I used as a shitty, but good enough base under the jack.
I'm sure that ugly 'silver' grill bar cannot be removed from my XLT. If it can, it will require removing the entire bumper skin and grill. In any case, I'd rather see it painted white. Also your truck looks awesome with that mod and the 'ugly silver' grill bar sort of blends in better on that...
To be clear to those who may not know: I assume that said bottle jack is to be placed under lower control arms? As placing bottle jack under body panels may result in damaged body panels? Particularly on the pinch welds?
There have been many legitimate arguments on both sides of this issue. I suppose the main purpose of that lining is to muffle noises from under the hood. In cold climates it allows the engine to reach operating temperature faster. It may also protect the hood paint from damage from the heat. I...
Good post. As stated before, It's complicated. Motor oil is much more than just lubrication as most of us know it. Motor oil has many functions beyond reducing friction. Motor oil is an extremely hard chemistry and it's always changing.
So, you can adjust the seat in a way that the front can be elevated, and the rear lowered? Thus giving more support to your legs behind your knees? like my 2006 Explorer Eddie Bauer? That's exactly what I need! I wish I was as wealthy as you to be able to afford such luxury.
I'm going to the dealer for oil changes too for a similar reason: They provide a lifetime warrantee on all lubricated parts as long as I let them do all of the service on all lubricated systems at the appropriate intervals. It was not easy for me to transition to that, as I have always done my...
I agree with all of that. There are people who insist on using heavier oil than what's printed on the cap. I tried to convince my neighbor not to put 10w 30 in his van that required 5w 20. Or others who will even go to 15w 40 when their vehicle gets old and starts to use oil. 'FFS' is the...
Yes. I'm almost 60 and I my legs are stiff after a 2 hr drive too. If there were one thing I could change about my Maverick XLT, it would have a larger seat and the angle would be adjustable. I don't know if you've tried lowering it. In lower positions the front is higher than the rear. It's...
I'm just guessing that if the company were able to recover the improper oil which was used, they could potentially do testing on it to determine that it was the cause of the failure.
When I was in the lubricant business, that's what they did when they encountered a loss claim against them. They...
5w 30 actually means 5 winter/ 30. The oil has multi-viscosities. In frigid conditions, the oil has the properties of a very light oil (5 weight), so it flows more easily. It also has the properties 30 weight, so in hot conditions, it doesn't flow too easily like the lighter 5 weight oil would...
