I'm used to it and have grown like it... Especially when backing out of a tight spot I can rapidly shift from R to D and back again just by feel...
All the manufacturers are playing with assorted interpretations on the shifting mechanism...

Manufacturers are responsible for recalls. If the dealer can't handle it that's the problem of the dealer not the manufacturer. I would have gone to a different dealer after 3 visits.

Recalls indicate to me that the manufacturer is paying attention trying to make things right, especially in a vehicle new to its market.
Sell the Maverick while you can make a few $... Very few recalls on this mode of transportation and a bed
