I don't have my Maverick yet, but from my experience with an Escape, that looks like the cap for the transmission. I believe it's vented, so some oil mist escaping is probably expected, but I don't know how much is considered normal.
Other posts have reported battery issues and there has been speculation about a batch of bad batteries. I would assume the dealer did a thorough load test of the battery, but the incompetence can be surprising at some dealers.
There is another option other than the TS Rails and the retractable covers with rails. That's the Diamondback cover and you can mount rails directly to the top of it. The Diamondback does have a premium price, but I think it's worth it.
I think it's likely that Ford would like to be able to sell direct to customers, but the dealers have it locked up in laws in most states. This is a case where the consumer should be able to decide if purchasing through a dealer has added value or not and make their own decision on how to buy...
I went with the XLT for a few reasons like FX4, Keyless-Entry Keypad, power lock on the tailgate. The improved chances of getting it vs an XL in the next 12 months is also a bonus.
I ordered a '23 without driving one. I sat in a '22 but wasn't allowed to drive it because it was sold. I requested from 2 dealers that they call me when one comes in that I can drive, but it never happened.
It will be my first truck but not my first Ford. As a current owner of 2 Fords, I was considering getting something non-Ford, but the Maverick came out and matched what I need. I just hope I actually get it.
Been there - Done that...
I will miss AM if it's dropped from the Maverick that I may get some day. News, sports, traffic, weather on AM. I also wonder what's next. Ford's cost reduction team must be working OT.
Like many others, the Maverick just checks most of the boxes for what I need. It has just enough hauling and towing capability while still being efficient. It's not too big and will fit in my garage along with other things I want in the garage. The price is right, and the compromises are...
I've finally joined after lurking since the beginning. I live in SE Michigan and work for a tier 1 auto supplier. Initially (last year) I was hoping to time an order to get a '23 this fall, but gave up on that idea as the ordering and delivery drama played out. So I placed an order on Sept...
