Good luck - I hope it all works out for you. I have E also but have been well controlled for 12+ years (knock on wood), but this is still a fear. Probably never going off the meds!
As mentioned above, the only problem towing my traditional travel trailer (2300 lbs) that is inherent to the vehicle is wind resistance impacts on MPG.
I have integrated brake controller problems, but this seems to be a defect in my Mav rather than a design flaw.
@Ford Motor Company any chance you can help out here? It seems highly likely here that what the dealer is telling me is not accurate. I would go to the other area dealer for a second opinion, but then I need to pay another diagnostic fee. I have the factory extended warranty (I'm JUST past the...
Trailer brake controller recall - is this the one that held up sales of Mavs with the tow package several months ago? Or was that for Mavs with the regular tow hitch only? I only vaguely remember it.
Mine is a '22 purchased in December 2022 and I think manufactured the month prior. So if it's...
I did have somewhat similar experience with a Tekonsha controller on a previous vehicle. I had the trailer brakes looked at, even the shoes and magnets replaced, and none of it made a difference. Controller was putting out correct voltage. Finally I replaced it anyway, and suddenly everything...
?? 2022 page #184 does not say what YazYaz posted about L.
I don't really care, as I know what settings I should be using.. just was confused about the discrepancy.
Help, please, from experienced tow-ers!
My trailer is a 2,300 lb conventional travel trailer. It is a single-axle with electric brakes. I towed it well over 5,000 miles with the Mav last season, with no issues other than not-great gas mileage due to the high profile. I do have the 4K tow...
Curious where you're seeing that - is it pulled directly from the manual? It's not in the auto trans or towing section of the 2022 manual I'm looking at. It that is in the manual somewhere, it's very misleading in implying that as a general rule you should use L when towing!
I agree that you should not do that, but I believe for different reasons, and it certainly is not impossible. All that happens in this scenario is RPMs drop and you speed up more. The computer will not let the transmission do anything detrimental.
I am well aware of this. I am interpreting your "too high" to mean the high RPMs are dangerous or damaging, which I don't see merit to. Now, if you mean that the vehicle speed (mph) gets too fast, I do not disagree with that! As for ACC on Lariat, okay - I am no longer following such things on...
Thoroughly agree with your other comments, but this is not true for standard cruise on the Mav, unless mine is defective.
(ACC is not standard on Lariat as implied by previous post)
So to summarize, if for nothing else than my own sake, it's a combination of the trans' reluctance to shift below 3rd or 4th (I can't tell for sure) gear and the insufficient compression/engine braking of those gears to hold the speed.
My thoughts exactly, as to L and tow/haul (I do not have ACC). My only complaint about "L" is not having enough control over exactly what it's doing, in comparison to a manual shift mode or paddles. In general it seems to work well for what's intended.
There isn't a difference, or at least...
I would like to see something done about this, @Ford Motor Company - how about an option to just turn off the warning? Or display it once per drive and be done with it. I have had it come on and off dozens of times while driving over the past few days.
Come to think of it, I haven't even...
