When I was stationed in Cuba we had this mini trucks on base from a brand called Cushman. I'm 6'2" and I was packed in there so tightly that I couldn't release the clutch without banging my knee on the steering wheel.
I have a co-worker with a little Kei truck and he loves it. He mostly uses...
I go back and fourth on this a lot. When I was looking at buying the Maverick the touch screen climate controls were a non-starter for me. This left me looking for any MY24s still on the market.
I wanted the hybrid because of the MPG but I wanted the EcoBoost for the tow package. I found a...
I think the Mav is one of the most forward thinking car designs in the last 20 years. People wanted small trucks but nobody was making them. Whoever at Ford pitched the idea of the Maverick truck needs a huge bonus. The sales number speak for themselves. It is a hugely successful product for...
I've actually been curious about this. The temps have recently dipped in my area to at, or just below, freezing. I've noticed about a 3-5 mpg drop since the cold weather rolled in. Some of my research has attributed this to a combination of winter blend fuels and using the heater more often. My...
Unfortunately that is the opposite end of the state from me. I was hoping you'd be located in eastern Washington. Good luck with finding a seller. I'm sure you'll find someone in that area.
Great write up. My only comment is that while 3 years of ownership with minimal trouble is reassuring, you've only averaged around 8300 miles a year in that truck. I'm 9 months into owning my Mav and I'm at 11.5k miles. Your truck is still basically lightly used. I'd be very interested in...
I haven't seen any Mavs in my area with special decals that don't appear to be work trucks. But really Its your truck, do what you want with it. As far as I'm concerned if they aren't making your payment on it then their opinion on what you to do your Mav doesn't mean squat.
I keep a folded up 4x4 tarp, a couple bungee cords, and two ratchet straps. Enough to basically secure something in my bed or cover it from the elements. Collectively everything in there is worth maybe $40 so if someone steals it then whatever.
I actually never knew about the 'Top Tier' branding. I looked online and found that most of the stations in my town seem to be selling Top Tier fuel. However, I noticed that the places with the cheapest gas in town are not on the Top Tier website. Maybe for the next couple fill ups I'll make...
I wonder if any other states offer granular data like this? I'd be very interested to see the EcoBoost vs hybrid data in different parts of the country. I feel like I see a lot of hybrids in my area; which makes sense given that gas prices are usually about the 3rd highest in the country in...
I'm now learning that the EcoBoost's 8f35 transmission likes to grenade itself between 80k and 100k miles. Lots of reports trickling in on Reddit of '22 and '23 MY Mavs getting to that mileage range and starting to break down. I imagine its only a matter of time until we start seeing it for the...
I got a hunch that if Subaru brought these back, they'd do really well. There's a lot of people who want a truck but don't need or can't justify a half-ton truck. I think this is why the Maverick has done really well. It used to be that you could buy a little truck like a Ford Ranger, Nissan...
I don't think this really speaks to the longevity of the drivetrain. Any vehicle, with proper maintenance, can last hundreds of thousands of miles. Now if that had the original transmission and engine components, then I'd be impressed.
Would love to see Oregon adopt a similar policy. It seems pretty common sense. I bought my truck in Idaho but they drilled that god awful bracket onto the front of the truck at the dealership. I removed the bracket and plugged the holes with these plastic plugs I got at Ace Hardware for like 20...
500 mile club? Had to drive across the state and back today. Filled up on midgrade fuel (89 octane) right next to the highway and went on my journey. Was averaging between 33.2 and 33.6 but by the time I got to my driveway it was sitting at 33.0. Between 68mph and 74mph the whole way. Looks like...
Just crossed 10k miles and I'm still averaging 27-30mpg. Probably 50% driving on two lane rural highways, 30% around town, and 20% on interstates. Just towed a trailer (~2400lbs) the other day for the first time and averaged 19.3 mpg on the trip.
My wife and I decided to pull the trigger on building our home gym. Found a place about 200 miles away that had good deals on new gym equipment. This is the first time I've towed something since I got my Mav earlier this year. Snagged a one way U-Haul trailer to move the equipment. Between the...
