Furry paws really love those buttons too. I saw the flip-up cover option but didn't want to keep flipping to open/close it every time I wanted to change a drive mode. So I made a button protector that doesn't need to be opened/closed.
I have them available if anyone is interested, more pics...
The accidental locking had plagued me too. I got super irritated and fixed it. Made a simple 2-piece 3D printed solution that works well in preventing accidental pressing of the lock lever and button. Took a bunch of iterations though, like anything worthwhile does.
Final version:

Thanks for the mention Glen!
I added the tailgate strut as well. Then made a bracket. Looks & works great, and others asked if I'd make them one. Started making a few more here and there and I've come to enjoy the time in my workshop. Other tie-down options are available which work just fine...
Don't let the addition of the tailgate strut mean you lose a tie-down point.
I have an option available also that I make and sell.
Works well and clears the new strut and no issues with the cable. And made in the USA by a fellow Maverick owner. I have a thread here in the For Sale forum.
Thanks for the mention! Yeah, that thread is mine. I've had the locking happen to me more than once, and I'm pretty sure it occured 2 ways. Regardless, the accidental door locking due to the design/layout of the controls bugged me so I did something about it.
When gripping the door lever and...
What issues?
I have an XL with Silvers coilovers and they're set pretty low with a 5" drop all around (more info on the set up in my build thread here, post #13).
I tow a dolly with my track car on it. I've towed a 13' aluminum trailer with lumber, a load of river rock, and car stuff stuff...
A bunch of varieties of glass stripper are available, this one looks like it's available at Autozone as well as Amazon. Might be easier than using a clay bar next time it happens.
After cleaning it, it might be worth considering at least hitting the glass with a ton of Rain-X to see if it...

I have a side-note to share -
I built a kit car using a donor car, but the vent was no longer present after my construction was done. The car's doors required a surprising amount of force to close and all the door glass moved when slamming the doors as hard as they needed to be. It was scary...
Update: Continuing to make the brackets when I need some relaxing time in my workshop. More are available.
Forum member @MakinDoForNow shared a photo that's the best illustration to date that I've seen, which shows the value of having the two tailgate mounted tie-down points available.
If...
I went with fuse #6, but as that other thread mentions, a standard tap won't fit in that location.
For the fuse locations where there isn't room for a standard angle tap, I found these (the gold pieces in the photo):
It's a simple metal tab that slides over...
Additional note - Others on these forums have said that large collections of music on a thumb drive have quite a delay to start playing due to the Mav needing to index the drive. I have about 10k songs in my collection that I keep on a good-sized SD card in my phone. I'd expect that most Android...
I have a tough time imagining living in an area where I had to worry about someone breaking a window to steal a thumb drive.
Search Amazon for a thin, stubby, or flat thumb drive. Would be nearly invisible when plugged in. Here is an example. This is a USB-A drive.
And you can even...
I think the tailgate assist strut was the first thing I added. When I have full hands/arms, I can lift the gate latch with any particular finger and allow the gate to drop to open position slowly without me having to lower it there by hand. For you naysayers here - for a truck bed that gets...
