Because those are the engines Ford had available and the Mav is a parts-bin kind of truck.
The discussion can get more technical and if Ford were starting from scratch everything might be different, but we aren't starting from scratch and those are the engines Ford has available.
You won't need the tailgate lock, bed rails, or phone holder on your Lariet Lux.
Consider ultra bright over the cab brake and backup lights (The kit has two red brake lights but you only need one and that's the only reason Amazon says it's not compatible with your Maverick)...
I finally Googled how to calibrate the compass of my Kia/Gentex Homelink mirror. It's not hard and it makes a difference. If your mirror says you're going NE when you know darn well you going directly North you might want to give this a try.

I'm planning a road trip where there might be snow on the roads so I'm looking to buy a set of tire chains but don't know much about them. The Owners Manual says cable chains are a must and I've found the right size for a good price but I wonder if there's more to know that I'm not aware of? I...
I have no idea what could be causing the noise, but if it's unique to your truck it can be fixed. Hang in there, it's under warranty. PITA but fixable.
I get that everybody gets to make personal choices and all, but there is pretty much NOTHING in the Mav universe that's red. The red radio thingie wouldn't match any Mav thing anywhere, not inside or outside of the truck. Orange maybe, but not red. It doesn't match Rapid red, Hot Peper Red...
I bought a Real Truck BakFlip MX4 Tonneau cover during the Black Friday sale and love it. It's worth pretty much anything you have to pay for it, but cheaper is always better. If you're thinking you might want a tri-fold hardcover any time soon, this might be the time to dig out the credit card...
Dark front windows look cool from the outside but are kind of a nuisance from inside the car. Unless you're doing a lot of custom work on your new truck, I'd just leave the front windows factory stock.
I now know more about Maverick lug nuts than I ever thought a person would have to know so I thought I'd share my new-found expertise with you.
The stock chrome lug nuts are two-piece affairs, meaning the basic cheap, ugly lug nut is wrapped with a chrome cover and that can become a problem...
I just read six pages of sillyness about a very small noise and the effect it may or may not have on bilnd people, kids, and those who are inattentive for other reasons, and no one has mentioned guns or gun control. Cool.
I put a set of door sill protectors on the Mav last night. Super easy to install. I think the material is leather embossed to look like carbon fiber, the letters are silver and probably won't last too long but they look good right now.
The near north end of Tacoma, Washington isn't San Francisco or Manhatten Island I'll admit, but I don't feel the Mav is oversized. Residential streets with cars parked on both sides can be stressful but I don't feel the need for a smaller car. Roundabouts aren't a problem.
