  1. For $3.5k more would you get a new 25 over a used 23? (now a touchscreen HVAC control thread lol)

And a major thing they took away in the '25 models - physical HVAC controls. Ask the person with the '25 model who posted their screen went dark and they couldn't adjust the air conditioner, which controls he'd rather have.
  2. Any aftermarket window vents to reduce wind noise with windows cracked open?

$403 plus installation. Ouch. To each their own, but I think I'll just keep using the very quiet a/c these trucks come with, and keep out the noise, dust, pollen, humidity and fumes.
  3. Looking for confirmation, bad CV axle ?

Sad. If you have the option, take it to another stealership.
  4. How to tell if you have the updated front axle

May not answer your specific question, but FWIW, any replacements will be covered in the 60k drivetrain warranty. And all replacements are of the new, stronger design.
  5. New to Hybrid. What to expect?

Don't know about the tonneau, but I absolutely love the buttery smooth no-shift transmission of the Hybrid drivetrain. So much so, that I'll never own another vehicle with a conventional clunky multi-gear automatic that can't decide what gear to be/stay in. And I have had no lack of power...
  6. Horn beep after second locking.

Yes. It is configurable in the vehicle settings to one press unlocks all. The two lock presses sounds horn can also be disabled if you like. IIRC, it's under "Mislock Chirp." There's also a way to disable one lock press sounds horn, but don't recall the procedure. I do know I disabled it...
  7. Reasonable price for tint?

The Llumar film I had that turned purple was installed on a vehicle in the mid aughts. I'm sure it's improved by now, but once burned....
  8. Oil Change #1 questions

For multiple reasons, the ecoboost & Hybrid have different oil change intervals.
  9. Oil Change #1 questions

Your manual will tell you to use 0W20 Full Synthetic - not a blend, for your Hybrid. Use a name brand. The Motorcraft FL910s filter is also recommended in the manual. Walmart has them. Avoid Amazon - some of theirs are counterfeit Motorcraft. Not a bad idea to go ahead and change it, even...
  10. Reasonable price for tint?

It's a good idea to use a shop that's been around for a long time, in case you have problems.
  11. Reasonable price for tint?

I had Llumar film turn purple on a previous vehicle. I'm sure they've improved it, but..., never again. Sticking w/ 3M ceramic.
  12. Driving by Braille: Stick-on tactile bumps to help locate & operate touch controls

I used an old-school DYMO label gun to make a tactile bump for the Drive Mode button on the console of '23 model Mavericks. It makes finding that button easy w/o having to look down. One could also use these "bumps" there, too.
  13. How to clear Oil Change Required message?

In the XL, it's in the screen that shows a picture of the truck. There, it's under Information. Select Oil Life Monitor and hold the OK button to clear/reset it. The OLM screen even prompts you how to reset it.
  14. Who bought a no options $20k 2022 XL

FWIW, it is not a conventional CVT - it is an eCVT. A very different animal from a CVT. No belts, no pulleys. And with 2/3 less moving parts, will likely far outlast the conventional transaxle in an ecoboost. Toyota has been proving that in the Prius, since 1997. Besides incredible gas...
  15. Star display by speedometer

On pre-25 models, it's your Favorite screen and you can customize it. While viewing it, hit the menu button to the right of the OK button. That will give you other options to change it to. Menu button is somewhat similar to this>
  16. A/C is great

It runs off the high voltage battery, so it should be an orange cable.
  17. Lights out!

I doubt it. The problem probably is, you can't see brake lights if you're staring at a screen trying to adjust something that should be a knob.
  18. Toyota and Subaru bringing a compact truck?

👍 My brother ordered an XL last week for just over $28k
  19. Toyota and Subaru bringing a compact truck?

Maybe not, but they're losing sales to Maverick. My brother, a lifelong Toyota worshiper, has had a Tacoma for over 20 years. The reason he didn't replace it is because Toyota no longer offers a truck of similar size to his old one. His last Toyota purchase was an Avalon, which has been a...
