  1. This is new, FordPass.

Jay, are you referring to the formatting? It's different than mine. Tire pressure being inside the boxes and a washer fluid notification. I don't have the latter on mine.
  2. Tailgate Cable Alternative

My grandfather had a finger that was pretty mangled on the end. He always told us grandkids it was from a bear biting him. 😏 I'm positive it wasn't, although I never knew what it was really from.
  3. Tailgate Cable Alternative

Thanks all for sharing the knowledge and stories. Much appreciated! Perhaps my one bad experience has had too much impact on my feelings towards tailgate cables. It sure "feels" to me like those old linkages would be stronger, but I have no evidence that it's true. Perhaps it is the opposite...
  4. Tailgate Cable Alternative

Ok. good to know. They weren't on my Chevy either, and I would've never been able to tell the connection at the eyelet was corroded before it failed. It had a plastic cover over it which made it appear uncompromised. The general consensus seems to be cables are fine, so I'm going to drop my...
  5. Fuel Dilution of Oil - Ecoboost

Just for git's and shiggle's, I thought I would see if I could put together something that could draw oil out thru the dipstick tube. This is what I came up with and it worked great. If nothing else, it'll be useful for when the oil change dummy's put too much oil in the engine, which seems...
  6. Tailgate Cable Alternative

Thanks, Glen. That's a bit more industrial looking than I would want, though.
  7. Tailgate Cable Alternative

Glen, I don't know. Good question. I know they haven't always been, if they are now. I had a heck of a time finding a picture, but here's one of a similair design to what I was thinking. I'm not saying my idea is best either, just wondering as I am curious. Maybe someone here knows more.
  8. Tailgate Cable Alternative

Thanks, Kevin! I think I beat you to the post. See my post above for a better explaination of my thoughts. I must have been unclear on my first post. Thanks, though. :)
  9. Tailgate Cable Alternative

Thanks, John. I do have one of those and like it. (y) The linkages I was referring to would replace the cables for limiting the tailgates travel. I've noticed the tailgate seems to go past "level" when a load is on it, I'm nervous about cables breaking when the tailgate has a load on it, and...
  10. Fuel Dilution of Oil - Ecoboost

Bob, do you know if it significantly shortened the CRV's engine life, or did they just keep ticking away like nothing was wrong?
  11. Fuel Dilution of Oil - Ecoboost

Tbone, I'm beginning to think maybe I'm not either, but here I am. (insert banging head on wall here) For those that do the OA's, how do you get the sample without going thru the motions of changing the oil. Draw it out of the dipstick tube somehow? If it's when changing the oil, the testing...
  12. Tailgate Cable Alternative

I remember on older trucks, atleast '70's and prior Chevys, they had metal arms that were used instead of cables. These seemed to work good. They could be disconnected and the tailgate removed easily, they were easily inspected for corrosion and wear, and they certainly could carry loads. Why...
  13. Fuel Dilution of Oil - Ecoboost

I will say, even with all of my short daily trips, I did not notice this issue when it was warmer and I only had 30 seconds of idle time. I noticed a small amount last winter, but this winter with the frigid week or so we had recently, definately. Remote starting to warm up the interior, and...
  14. Fuel Dilution of Oil - Ecoboost

I did take one trip this winter to the UP of Michigan, but it was practically a snowstorm both ways. 35mph a good chunk of it. LOL. Yeah, I'll throw the wife and dog in the cab and go roll around on the weekends a bit more often.
  15. Fuel Dilution of Oil - Ecoboost

10-4, will do. (y) Thanks guys. I do appreciate all the input!
  16. Fuel Dilution of Oil - Ecoboost

Fuel mileage is decent, considering my driving habits, and hasn't changed much except the expected summer and winter differences. I think my lifetime average is 19 something which has been pretty steady. Much higher on road trips, but most of the 6600 miles I have on the truck been in town...
  17. Mabett | Giveaway: What's your Maverick hauling?

Hey, isn't that Pee Wee Herman's bike? Where'd you find it, in the basement of the Alamo? ;)
  18. Fuel Dilution of Oil - Ecoboost

In the pic below of the Maverick dipstick there's three points, A, B & C. I assume B is full and the distance from A to B would be one quart? If B is full (5.5 quarts) C would appear to be approx 1/4 quart more. I believe my truck was at B the second to last time I checked it and it was at C...
  19. Fuel Dilution of Oil - Ecoboost

Thanks everyone for all the tips and great information. Much appreciated. (y) I did switch from Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic to Valvoline Full Synthetic, but the only reason was due to what the oil change place sold and not because of any unhappiness with Pennzoil. I have always been...
  20. Fuel Dilution of Oil - Ecoboost

My '24 Ecoboost is the first DI engine I've owned. I've not experienced fuel diluting the engine oil previously with my other vehicles. At least, that I was aware of. I live close to work and go home for lunch every day, so have four very short trips each weekday. I don't do many other longer...
