  1. The XL Trim Maverick Thread

Hermosillo has been producing quality vehicles for Ford now for some time. I don't have any problem with that in particular. Ford does still run plenty of assembly plants in the US, and is building new ones specifically to make parts for electric and hybrid vehicles.
  2. The XL Trim Maverick Thread

It's supply chain issues for the most part, I'm sure. What has worked for decades is breaking down. Part of that is due to COVID-19, but there are other issues, like single suppliers who shut down, or experience disasters like fires and floods (which may, ironically, be related to climate change...
  3. The XL Trim Maverick Thread

The tonneau covers have also been "late" meaning that orders are being held back for them. My dealer took the tonneau cover off my order, as well as the rubber removable bed mat. I figure a $50 "cow mat" from the farm supply is probably just as good and cheaper than that bed mat. But I'm going...
  4. Maverick Constraints / Commodities (National) as of September 29

Not a conventional internal combustion. It's Atkinson cycle, supposed to be more fuel efficient with less emissions. And depending on driving style and conditions, it may not be running all or even half the time. I'm holding out for the hybrid too. That was my primary reason for choosing Maverick.
  5. The XL Trim Maverick Thread

Not exactly. Ford is, however, failing badly at communication. I hear that the EPA fuel economy result should be out "very soon" but we don't know why it is late. The hybrid power train for Maverick is pretty much the same as what has been in the Escape for some time now. But they have to retest...
  6. 📊 Maverick Order Tracking List & Stats [Enter Yours!]

"Reserved" or "ordered"? There's a significant difference. Is Ford still taking reservations?
  7. The XL Trim Maverick Thread

That's a pretty outrageous quote for a "base XL." Also, the "base" implies the hybrid engine which is standard, and they aren't supposed to be getting those as dealer stock yet, nor selling them at all until the EPA issues its final fuel economy numbers. I'd say there's something fishy about...
  8. The XL Trim Maverick Thread

Congrats on that. You must have ordered back in July or something. I ordered an XL hybrid with just 360 and a hitch receiver in August. Crickets is all I've heard since the order was confirmed.
  9. The XL Trim Maverick Thread

I imagine that of the things excluded from the XL trim level, cruise control is probably one of the most popular and may provide the main incentive for many who choose the XLT instead. I suspect most of the other added features, like extra tiedowns or windows with auto-rollup in addition to the...
  10. 📊 Maverick Order Tracking List & Stats [Enter Yours!]

Good luck! My Escape conked out about 3 weeks after I ordered the Maverick. Had to pick up a used Fusion to fill the gap.
  11. What's your engine Breaking-In Period plan?

I know. But I'm not one for speed anyway. Never have been.
  12. 📊 Maverick Order Tracking List & Stats [Enter Yours!]

I can only speak for myself, but the hybrid was the main thing that brought me to the Maverick. I wanted a small truck, yes. But this was the one with a hybrid as standard.
  13. What's your engine Breaking-In Period plan?

I'm in Illinois. Speed limit on some interstates is 75 but I avoid those anyway. The trouble is, when it was 65, people drove 80 on there. Now that it's 75, they're going 90. No kidding. I don't play that game. I don't know where "BFE" is but it sounds similar. Here, every speed limit sign on...
  14. What's your engine Breaking-In Period plan?

When it comes to this sort of thing, I follow the manufacturer's recommendations. I have no problem with keeping my speed under 60 mph or even 55 mph during a break-in period.
  15. Did you pick FWD or AWD Maverick and why?

The answer is simple enough. Of the last three vehicles I have owned, two were FWD and the middle one was 4WD (Jeep Cherokee.) I used the four wheel drive but rarely, it just happened to be on the available model the dealer had when I was shopping. Comparing the three, the two FWD cars were...
  16. Age of targeted Maverick Buyer

Amen to that. My one objection to the Fusion I grabbed as an interim until the Mav comes in was the way I have to literally crawl or back into it to avoid banging my head. And I'm barely 6 ft at most.
  17. Age of targeted Maverick Buyer

I know there used to be small pickup trucks here in the US. Somehow they all went away. The big heavy ones do seem to be popular with a certain subset of the market, many of whom don't actually use them for much work, but just as status symbols or something like that. (Noise makers? That too.)...
  18. Age of targeted Maverick Buyer

I would characterize the Maverick buyer in many cases as "first time truck buyers of all ages." They seem to be missing that, as they missed the demand for the affordable hybrid.
  19. Age of targeted Maverick Buyer

Ha! 71 here, undoubtedly 72 before they build my XL hybrid. I think Ford's market research (if they did any at all) messed up badly on this. I live on a hobby farm with horses (gave our sheep away some years ago) and have been managing with carryall or SUV type vehicles for 23 years: Cherokee...

Great idea, thanks. Nabbed one off eBay as soon as I saw this.
