Those old Datsuns were fantastic. We had a Chevy luv which was a lot of fun to drive, and very handy. Got replaced by an f-150 long bed which was a damn good truck, but not nearly as fun to drive.
My sister had an early 80's Mazda which could make it from middle Tennessee to Baltimore on two...
58 here, same thing happened to the Ford fiesta ST, marketed to 20 year old males but bought by dads and grandad's. My take is that an old person will buy a young person's car, but not the other way around.
Maybe part of it is that deep down we all still feel like we are twenty-something!
Brilliant, many thanks for the links. Looks like a very strong and robust system to me. My take is that by varying the speeds of the different components, you get the effect of an infinitely variable transmission all while using very robust mechanical gearing.
You know I just came across a motor trend article about that. I think you're right, we will be seeing an all-wheel drive version of the hybrid in another year or two.
Yes. However, the valve timing mimics an Atkinson cycle, which has significantly higher efficiency but lower torque at lower rev ranges. That's what makes it an ideal match up for a hybrid system. The electric traction motors have extremely high torque starting from zero RPMs which covers the...
I have a 2016 Ford Fiesta ST with a 197 horsepower ecoboost engine and 230 lb of torque. It is a very entertaining car! You can make it torque steer, but to do so you have to be trying to go damn fast. It is more obvious when you are also trying to corner hard, not a situation that is likely to...
I don't think you can go wrong with either one.
I suspect that the turbo all-wheel drive is several thousand dollars more, and will cost more to own and maintain. I think respective complication is about the same reliability wise.
Plus one on snow tires being more important. As I recall...
There is a really impressive Ford EcoBoost 3.5 l video online, produced by Ford. They tore the engine down afterward in a public display, and the internals looked great. What they did not talk about was the maintenance they were doing on that engine, which I bet was absolutely first class! My...
I think a lot of manufacturers are making things like eyesight cheap and available because they really need the data in order to develop the technology. Ford may be ahead of the curve on that, so it is utilizing it as a highly desirable feature that people will pay for.
Let's hear it for more...
The 2020 fusion hybrid that I drive for work has better manners than my wife's 2018 Subaru Impreza, but it can still brake very hard when it thinks there's a threat.
I use cruise control quite a bit. Both my work car and my wife's Subaru have active cruise control, which makes a huge difference on long drives. The lane centering on my dad's new Subaru is really impressive. Unfortunately, you have to get a totally optioned out lariat to get these features...
