Add me to the rodent club. $600, of which half was diagnosis. Took a two to the dealership, as my Mav would only run 10 seconds before shutting itself down. I now use a mint spray. Parked outside by necessity.
I encountered this ruby red color in a 2025 at my local grocery store just this week. Had a chat with the owner. I was surprised he had to wait a full year for delivery, which tells me that (in my area at least) there is still an ordering backlog. Honestly that shocked me. Maybe I shouldn't be...
Still an absolute mystery to me that dash cams are not offerred on every vehicle built. I mean, why not? Profit for the automaker. A service for the car buying public. If dashcams were mandatory safety equipment, I wager the roads would be a lot safer. People just behave differently when they...
My Maverick is out in the cold covered by snow. Attacked by mice and now defended by mint spray (they got the wiring harness a few months back - $600). The Volvo is all cozy and warm inside.
Spent my first career in military aviation (C130). Still subscribe to Aviation Week. I've been watching the VTOL industry progress. Lots of startups. At various stages on the path to either bankruptcy or commercial service.
A good summary is that VTOL is coming. Commercial first. Personal (at...
I should add to my previous post... As us Boomers reach "take away the keys" age, I can't help wondering if we can retain independence via autonomous vehicles.
As a genuinely old person (70), I find the "young person and driving" question really interesting. I've read a lot about declining rates of people getting licenses. Of course it depends on urban vs rural and a lot of other factors.
One thing I'm watching with extra interest (and I have no horse...
It's educational to look in the rear view mirror when it comes to small truck sales. But you have to keep demographics in mind. We had the middle of the baby boom generation reaching young adulthood starting around 1975. Single young men in droves drove affordable small truck sales through the...
I like my 2022 ecoboost plenty. But I confess I'm jealous when I see photos of the 2025 ecoboost engine bay. All the wires neatly arranged, as compared to the wild jungle when I open my hood.
I also love the efficiency and reliability of modern engines. But a little part of me still misses...
I kind of trust Ford to know their customers. I think the only truck design misstep I can remember them making was the soft and feminine version of the F150 a while back. And boy were they quick to fix that. It's not like Ford is abandoning more styling-conservative truck buyers. The manly-man...
Pure conjecture on my part, but informed by usual industry practices. I don't expect the new Ford to give all those specs at the same time. I suspect that the fast speed and long range comes with the AWD variant with a big battery - for more money. And I'm cool with that.
I'd wager the $30K...
Ford seems to have shown a pass through bed, as they show a surfboard extending into the front passenger seat. Might be reading too much into an image, but one can hope.
I wonder how the folks at Slate are feeling right about now. Very different trucks, but just close enough that anyone looking...
I'm all over this BEV truck and will 100% buy one in 2028 (about the 5 year point for my 2022 Maverick). As an engineer, I love everything Ford showed. I'm very curious to see what they did with the styling. Truck buyers are finicky about that. You can see styling hints in the video.
I also...
I get this on my XLT with a key ignition, so the car is definitely stopped. And always in park. It always decides to honk when there is some mother with a small child near the vehicle - just being obnoxious I guess. Totally random. Once or twice a month.
I'll be watching. But my expectations are damped. Ford has not said they're showing the vehicle. They said they're highlighting the innovations and people behind the vehicle. So I expect some presentatioons on shorter wiring harnesses, large cast frame components, zonal controllers, more...
Two thoughts. One, if you did the whole truck, all the spy photographers would be shooting you. Two, wouldn't that be cool at night if the lines were reflective? Maybe illegal, I dunno, but cool nonetheless.
