I'm not the original poster, but I recommend stopping by a local auto parts store so they can pull the codes for you. That might help us narrow down the issue. How many miles and what year is your truck?
Love my Plano boxes. I ran 1/4 inch window seal on the underside of the lid groove to provide even better insulation between the lid and container. I have all my kitchen stuff in there for camping.
Yes. Recommend searching here and on Google to find the thread. They're used to align the windshield to the body. And when alignment is off, that plastic starts making noise as it runs against the metal.
Nah, they won't be offered. No Japanese company is gonna spend millions of dollars to tool up factories stateside for these, only to destroy their margins and safety image.
"We've confirmed that this trash build quality from Ford is normal for this vehicle in its fourth model year. Have a good day." Wow...incredible.
I'd personally take the door card off myself and insulate it against the internal plastic.
Personally, I don't think it's worth the money on a "cheap" vehicle. I have just one bigger rock chip outside of my wheel wells in 4 years after 28k miles, with a few thousand of those on forest service roads and driving behind others. I can live with that.
Since I'm in the mountains on forest service roads often, I also have at least 1 GMRS radio, spare change of clothes that changes with the seasons, lighter, small packable stove and isobutane fuel.
The windshield defrost vent on the driver side is knocking on the blue plastic that covers it. It gets worse for me when it's cold. I don't think there's any fix short of pulling the dash.
I remember. 🫣
But the difference between what the book says, what techs at Ford say, and what your local mechanic says could be a couple thousand dollars.
I'm neither Ford, nor a dealer, nor a tech...and perhaps folks will stop reading there, but it doesn't seem to be problematic looking at the part.
If folks are worried about the liability of doing it yourself, I recommend going to a local shop and having them give you a second opinion. A part...
Nope, not according to the service manual for my 2022. Just a harness and a bolt to remove.
Now...it might be a pain without a lift...that I don't know.
