Even at 62, not too far from 63, I'm able to just sort of step up onto the tailgate, holding one of the bed sides. Occasionally, I've also just sat on the tailgate, and turned to one side to stand up, using the bedside as a support. - Sitting on the tailgate is a lot easier for somebody who may...
My Lariat is actually quieter than the 2012 Outback Limited it replaced, likely due to the 'Sound-Shield' glass that comes on the Lariat trim. (We also get the insulation at the back of the front fender, in front of the door opening).
Haven't driven in an XL/XLT, but wondering if opting for...
Black looks good on just about any color, although less visible on a back vehicle. Personally, the 3D raised letters are my pick on just about any of them, and they just seem to standout better.
My 2nd pick is the patriotic red, white, and blue, but I don't think they'd look good on a green...
Just need to add the stick-on below the BLIS indicator. The factory mirrors from an XL/XLT w/o CP360 cannot be used without loosing the BLIS indicator in the mirror. - Never got around to installing them, although they'd be nice to have for viewing the back tires backing into a space without...
It's due to the way the park brake interconnects with the calipers. Service mode retracts the piston back into the caliper, placing the park brake into service mode for pad replacement. - It's nearly the same on all models with an electric or electronic park/emergency brake.
Nearly all of the voice commands are present under Sync3 with the 22-24 models. Use them all the time, although twisting the temperature knobs are more intuitive than using the speech button. Not having had the built-in voice commands in 45 years of driving, even Sync3 was a huge upgrade for...
I just use voice commands for the stations, with the favorites just be use next & back to cycle between them. (I have the set in order by genre). - Does the non-Sync allow setting the station by voice like the Lariat does? (Press talk on wheel, then say 'xm 57', 'FM 92.5', or '2000s Country' for...
I'm crooked whenever I use the camera for positioning. It's likely the distortion caused by the wide angle lens, curving the image. - Usually there's a service-calibration mode to shift the lines.
Typically you press up, down, left, right, or some combination of the edges to enter that mode...
The new 360 surround view & AWD on the Hybrid are tempting, but can't mentally justify the additional cost to upgrade to the 25.
There's an old school trick for pulling to a curb, which most have forgotten or never learned. Watch the driver's side mirror, then the curb (or parking stop)...
Wondering if I've mixed up my wife's Forester tires and my Michelin tires. Raining all day, and don't care to get wet checking. - One of them wax like 200, and thought it was the Maverick's tires.
The Michelins on the Maverick only show a ~200 as the treadwear rating, which isn't outstanding. It's a soft tire, which generally favors traction over tire life. On a positive note, they did great last winter, when we received 6-8 inches of snow, and I was forced to drive 20 miles each way...
Use the driveway apron as a ramp, to put the passenger side tires on the curb. I've done that with several vehicles, including the step-daughters Escape, which gives you ample room to shimmy under to remove the shield.
It's due to the larger thread pitch used, which requires more torque to achieve proper force to the hub. Ford used truck studs & lugs on the Maverick, not the thinner car/SUV threading.
Search for A7062-ADUP1 on eBay. Currently showing as selling for $23.xx.
Scratch that, now showing out of stock. They've been discontinued, but still show up on eBay, keep an eye out on the listings. They've a great mirror, and have no obvious Kia markings.
KIA Auto-Dimming mirror with HomeLink, under $28 shipped. You get both the benefit of the dimming rear view mirror, and the garage door opening. - Easy to wire into the overhead, and fits the stock mirror mount..
If you add the tailgate seal, the Synetic rolling cover keeps the bed bone dry, and secure. Only drawback is you loose length at the top towards the cab. I'll simply use a bed extender for large items, when needed. - Hauling 4x8, doors, and 4x8s isn't affected.
An H5 doesn't leave much room to connect the cables, and requires manipulation to replace the surround. I'm 99% sure an H6 wouldn't fit without leaving the surround off, or cutting it up.
BTW, it isn't absolutely necessary to cut off the centering tabs. You can tap them flat with a small...
Just to toss some gasoline on the fire. :)
I noticed on my first oil change last year, the factory filled oil (Motorcraft presumably) had quite a bit of the white milky stuff in the cap, and just below the cap in the filler neck. - There wasn't any below that point looking into the valve area...
My Weize H5 AGM has been installed for about a year, after the OEM battery started the Deep Sleep/Power Saving after just 4 1/2 months. (It was just easier, and cheaper considering my time to buy the AGM for $105, than to sit at the dealership for several hours).
The battery monitor routinely...
