I just do not think a foil (topped) option is good for underhood. The heat will reflect back into the engine bay. Pretty sure my brother had issues on an older Jeep when he used similar.

I wouldn't think the rear speakers received a full-range signal. I would think the extreme low frequencies are blocked? Thus, wouldn't it be best to tap the front door? This may be why it's not as "deep" as you expected. Looks nice and clean though.
