  1. My biggest disappointment so far = Ford hard roll-up tonneau cover

I bought this hard top tonneau cover for maverick from Amazon. That listing has 0 reviews so I took the chance and risk. Spent around $350 which is way too cheap to resist. Turned out, it is very very good. It not only fits, but also is very sturdy. My kid, who's over 120lbs, stood on top of it...
  2. 2nd oil change at 9782 miles, and some thoughts

I got my oil and filter from walmart while I shop for other things. Plus, with the amount of miles I'm driving I'll be going to change oil every 3 months. Going to a quicklube that often is not very enjoyable.
  3. 2nd oil change at 9782 miles, and some thoughts

also it takes less time to do it myself. My local dealership has long lines. I would imagine at least 2 hours for an oil change and tire rotation. Yes they have free coffee but ....
  4. 2nd oil change at 9782 miles, and some thoughts

Well, if you DIY, you know what you are pouring into the engine. I kinda not trusting they put good qualify full synthetic oil at the oil change place, or dealership. There was once that a quicklube place didn't change my filter(it was another vehicle, years ago). With a new car the filter...
  5. 2nd oil change at 9782 miles, and some thoughts

I did my breakin oil change at 4258 miles, with mobil 1 advanced full synthetic. But I did not reset the oil life at that time. Just curious when it's time to change the oil according to onbaord computer. Yesterday I changed oil again at 9782 miles. This is my second oil change on this maverick...
  6. Is the oil dilution theory some BS?

sugar dissolves in tea. The volume will not change. gas mix with oil, it will increase the volume.
  7. Is the oil dilution theory some BS?

Then you need to explain to me why 2 months after I did the oil change my dipstick mark has not gone up. If there's any significant dilution there should be more oil/liquid whatever, right?
  8. Is the oil dilution theory some BS?

I've read somewhere that someone's saying you must change your oil every 5k, because the gas will blow past oil ring and dilute the oil. Sounds terrifying. Ford engineers didn't realize this when they design the engine? Plus, if you think hard, even if some gas do get into the oil, what will...
  9. Pennzoil platinum full synthetic vs mobil 1 advanced full synthetic oil in 2.0 ecoboost engine

I've always used mobil 1 with satisfying results in the past. My last vehicle surpassed 300k before I traded it in. Now I'm seeing Pennzoil has this made from natural gas hype. Supposedly you get more uniform oil molecules if you make it from natural gas. Will this work better? Pennzoil has a...
  10. Benefit of 0w-30 oil for ecoboost maverick in cold climate?

Thanks. Didnt have time to read the manual. Probably should. So if 0w-30 is not needed for climate of NY, it won't hurt to use it in the winter, will it?
  11. Benefit of 0w-30 oil for ecoboost maverick in cold climate?

Hi All, My next oil change will be somewhere in the winter. In our part of the country, the northeast, the winter can get quite cold. My truck doesn't have a garage to park in, so it will start in the cold. Wondering if I use 0w-30 instead of the recommended 5w-30 for this winter oil change...
  12. Some thoughts about oil life and eco driving mode in ecoboost maverick...

After almost 6k miles, my 2.0 ecoboost AWD's oil life is still at 53%. That means, to make it go to 15% (which is probably where the oil life monitor trigger the oil change warning), I'd passed 10k miles. I did change my oil at 4258 miles, but I didn't reset the oil life monitor. Just curious...
  13. Did the first oil change today. Mileage 4258 miles

I figured if I only change oil every 10k miles(I drive about 2k miles per month), then I only need to remove those screws every 5 months. Not too bad. Just need to make sure don't lose them. Also I use a low speed cordless screwdriver so that I don't strip it.
  14. Did the first oil change today. Mileage 4258 miles

ok forgot to say I have the 2.0 ecoboost engine, not the hybrid.
  15. Did the first oil change today. Mileage 4258 miles

Hi all, I did the first oil change today, at 4258 miles. Dash oil life is saying i have 68% oil life remaining. The oil I used was the mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-30 which meets all the ford requirements. It cost just a little more than the motorcraft blend at walmart. Why not use full synthetic...
  16. Can't default to ECO mode? What does ECO even do for an ecoboost?

Found out I can't default to ECO mode. Every time I start the engine it's in normal mode. I have to press the big button a few times to get to ECO. A nuisance! But what does ECO even do? I can't find any difference in terms of mileage between ECO and Normal driving modes. I guess it makes sense...
  17. Oil life not accurate?

I've had my 2.0 ecoboost AWD maverick for a little more than a month. Had already put 3k miles on it. Most of them highway(75%). I just checked oil life on the dash. It says it's still 80%. Thats odd! That means the oil change interval will be over 10k when the car tells you to do an oil...
  18. Mobile 1 synthetic engine oil for 2.0 EcoBoost?

Isn't viscosity that "30" in 5w-30? What's API service classification? Does Mobil 1 meet it?
  19. Amazing gas mileage! 2.0 AWD ecoboost

Thanks for all the feedback. What I said was, almost as good as hybrid in terms of gas mileage. Obviously hybrid is still better if you only think about saving gas. Where I live there's a lot of snow in winter. There are a few places near where I live that has steep slopes. I always had trouble...
  20. Mobile 1 synthetic engine oil for 2.0 EcoBoost?

Hi all, For 2.0 ecoboost engine, the recommended oil from FORD is Motorcraft® SAE 5W-30 Premium Synthetic Blend. Wondering if Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-30 will also work? I prefer full synthetic. Just don't know if FORD is OK with mobil 1. Thanks.
