  1. Dealer says I can use any brand full synthetic oil for my Maverick

In the day, it was Pennsylvania crude that was the preferred oil source. Valvoline, Pennzoil and Quaker were the sources closest to the oil well. Now, Amsoil has a good lube, but can I call it oil? Synthetic blends are preferred by most manufacturers so I think that Royal Purple and Amsoil...
  2. Dealer says I can use any brand full synthetic oil for my Maverick

Oil changes take 20 minutes if you do it yourself, I am 72 and I still do them on my vehicles that aren't under manufacturer warranty. I take my Mav to the dealership I bought it from so they have all the records. I had to fight Toyota in '85 about their crap six cylinder they put in the...
  3. Dealer says I can use any brand full synthetic oil for my Maverick

Since there are actually only a small handfull of filter manufacturers and Motorcraft are made by Purolator, I would bet a Purolator filter will be good also, but Wix is my preferred filter. Fram is down the list a ways for me as their quality has fallen off considerably in the past 30 years.
  4. First Flat Tow Behind the Motorhome RV

If you have a legacy vehicle with manual transmission, the speedometer drive is at the output shaft of the transmission. Unless you disconnect the drive shaft from the differential it will count the miles. Automatic transmissions or newer vehicles with digital speed sensor it won't count the...
  5. First Flat Tow Behind the Motorhome RV

According to Ford, if it is a hybrid you can flat tow, if not it will ruin the drive train.
  6. Do you fold down your back seats, got pics ?

I am going to the market as soon as I finish this reply. I use a 2x8, cut to the width of the bed and put it in the last pocket in the bed to keep the grocery bags and a cooler from spreading the width of the bed. I have a quilted frozen foods bag set which keep frozen things frozen and a...
  7. H&R Lift Springs - Before / After photos and measurements

Damn, that would be nice, having a self service shop available. I have a small garage at my house and can't even jack the truck up enough to get the trans out or the axles without hitting the roof on the garage ceiling. I have all the hand tools necessary to do most all repairs on a vehicle...
  8. H&R Lift Springs - Before / After photos and measurements

That may be, I wasn't looking at the owners manual. But you got the idea. The Mav is a great little truck, but it is a little truck. Really isn't built to pull around an Airstream Interstate.
  9. Eibach Pro vs. H&R Super Sport lowering springs comparison

I have heard of guys that are using impact tools to take the stabilizer bar link off. Also if you are getting a thump or popping when you are going over small obstacles like speed bumps, it could be the stabilizer link bar or link bar ball joint. Those are low-friction connections with low...
  10. H&R Lift Springs - Before / After photos and measurements

Remember that even with the 4k tow package, the tongue weight on the Maverick is only 450 lbs. The 4K is actual draw weight and I would stay below that or you can damage your drive-train. I love my Maverick but I knew going in that it was a light duty truck, not an F-250
  11. H&R Lift Springs - Before / After photos and measurements

I did my shocks, springs, and lift kit myself in an afternoon. But if you don't normally do your own repairs, I would suggest having it done by a professional. Changing the strut springs is a challenge and you can actually get seriously injured if you don't operate the spring compressor...
  12. Tozalazz 11.65CFM dual 12V air compressor group buy ( closed)

If it is truly 90 amps peak, at 12 volts, where are you going to connect it? There isn't a 90 amp fuse in the truck, and the only place you should be connecting that is direct to the battery, which won't last long with that kind of load. Hopefully, it really isn't a true 90 amp load, and that...
  13. 2023 Lariat BAP with 2" Rough Country Lift + 265/60/r18 Wildpeaks

I did the 2" lift in back but I only did 1.25 in front which leveled it out just about perfectly. I
  14. Installing the WeatherTech Hood Protector

Still happy with the results of the deflector. On my overly long trips to Wisconsin and Arizona I found that the deflector did catch a good percentage of the bugs and those that it missed went to the top of the windshield or over the cab completely. The bugs that hit anywhere in the normal...
  15. Maverick with home made wood bed crate / container rack.

I had a 150 lb female rotty. Great dog. She really didn't like it when I got married, jealous girl. But she outlasted the wife.
  16. Anyone else having daily issues with infotainment?

Yes. When I make a phone call it will cut off for no reason and switch to my phone speaker or hang up the call without notice. I don't have Sync but it shouldn't affect the phone from what I have read in the owners manual. When I take it in for the airbag recall I will be mentioning it.
  17. Anyone having rust issues with their Maverick?

My thoughts exactly! I really don't want to buy another vehicle. I am over 70 now and this is exactly what I have wanted for years. A comfortable ride with a bed that I can secure to carry my tools and groceries when I go out of town.
  18. Can the BMS be disabled in Forscan?

You should be able to isolate additional batteries using an isolation transformer and a transistor bridge but it would cause the BMS to go into a fault mode when the alternator started pumping out power and it wasn't making the programmed change in power, or the battery would stay charged longer...
  19. How many things can FORScan unlock?

Umm so does a heavy right foot and low diff gearing, which is what the Fx4 and Tow package are. Unless there is something in the programming that will dump a higher fuel/air mix into the system or advance the timing of the valves, which should happen if you get into the kickdown with a wide...
  20. How many things can FORScan unlock?

With the gearing used in Fx4 and towing I would think I have a built in sport mode, eco mode might be handy but I get pretty good mileage currently so I am good. I currently am getting 27 to 30 mpg depending on my right foot.
