I'm not sure there are any major issues with the automatic transmission, at least not that I can find here on the forums. So far I've only found three reports of significant issues, not counting the reset of the training computer (software issue, not really a transmission issue).
I think...
There are a few transmission problems mentioned, but overall does not seem like this is a widespread issue.

I've had FWD vehicles in the past, and AWD makes a huge difference in winter driving. It is a personal choice, but I won't buy another FWD vehicle while living in the north. Plus, I haul a trailer in the winter and some of the roads aren't the greatest. The more traction you can get, the...
They already have all of my information from using their service center, and I had several emails exchanged with the sales person last week asking about the ordering process. Basically, they have a reservation list with a $300 refundable deposit, and as soon as the order banks open they call me...
Yes, plus hauling a trailer with an ATV or snowmobile. I'm going with the gas AWD and ordering as soon as I am able. I just put down a deposit so I'm on "the list".
Actually I would have bought one of the new Rangers when they first came out if they hadn't decided to make it so huge compared to the 2011. I'm glad I waited now since the Maverick is more the type of vehicle that I want. I've been saying for years that a small AWD platform with a truck body...
Book values are City: 15 / Hwy: 20 so it is doing well considering the age of the vehicle. The best I've gotten is 19.45mpg on the highway this summer.
It is a personal choice, but I won't buy another vehicle that isn't AWD. Been there, done that, and the difference is huge for winter driving...
UPDATE: Thanks for the feedback everyone. I've decided to go ahead and order the gas AWD w/ tow package as soon as the order banks are open.
Original post:
I have a 2011 Ranger XLT 4x4 extended cab with 72k miles on it, and I love the truck except for the horrible gas mileage (19 highway...

Dealership markups are getting crazy, so this site is tracking them.
Oh, yes, I would definitely prefer a 2 door extended cab with a 6 foot bed. I don't need 4 seats, and like having the room behind the seats for storage in my Ranger. One of my biggest hesitations about the Mav is the cab and bed arrangement.
I would love to be able to look one over before buying. :)
I really like my 2011 Ranger, but I don't like the 19 mpg highway and 14 mpg around town. 30 mpg with the ICE AWD would be a big improvement.
Congrats! I missed the order window earlier this year. I wanted to actually see a Maverick in person before ordering one, so I waited, but I still haven't seen one. No dealers have any to look at and I don't know anyone that owns one.
I'm interested in a Lariat AWD. I'd be all over a...
Has anyone done business with, and can comment on, Darlings Brunswick Ford (Brunswick, Maine)? It used to be called something else but changed names/management sometime in the past year or so I believe.
I would like to order a Maverick next month, and am hoping to avoid some of the drama that...
