I've had exactly the same experience right down to thinking I had hit something slowly entering a parking spot. Come on, Ford. Figure this out already.
I bought my hybrid from Berglund Ford in Salem, VA. Completely transparent from the beginning and it all went well. They were really cool dealing with a minor service issue earlier and I hope for the same with this fuel vapor recall.
I'm 5'11" and I have bumped my head a few times. I might be an idiot. No. Am.
Anyway, visibility has otherwise been good. There is a touchy off ramp where I live that gives you microseconds to see existing traffic. I nearly hit, wait for it, the only other hybrid Mav I have seen in town so far...
This entire thread might age like milk, but I sure hope not. Economies rise and fall but a collapse will make this thread look like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
I will point out that we are at a completely unprecedented point on economic curves we have known so far. It seems bound to...
Unpopular opinion, but I admire the ingenuity. I can see a guy looking at the U-Haul and the SUV and kinda sizing them up. "Yeah....that'll work."
Beside all that, the person was apparently driving around for days being seen before someone called the police. It WAS working.
I recently did a mountain road trip with hairpin turns and some fast straightaways. I put it in Sport and was surprised how responsive and zippy my hybrid became. I hated to go back to ECO.
A couple of years ago I rented a Tacoma while on a trip and positively hated the mirror being right in my vision, and I was worried the Mav mirror would be the same. But it never bothered me one bit. It doesn't seem to be in the way like that Tacoma. These sort of issues are such first world...
My dealer offered exactly what Carvana (or CarMax?) offered, so I said "Kewl!! Bye, old car!" I got a check for the full amount at a bank five minutes up the road and drove my new Mav away. Easy as could be.
The difference here is that this is not OP picking up an order, it's getting a call that someone walked on theirs and it was open for purchase. Why anyone here thinks dealers are obliged to sell them at MSRP no matter what is beyond me.
I bought mine from Berglund in Salem (attached to Roanoke for people not familiar with the area.) I got treated very well there so you might consider them. Funny coincidence: I just stopped and talked to a guy with a nearly identical Mav that he ordered at Magic City and got for MSRP like I did...
This is the way. Your comment made me think about how the doors have a lot of customizable potential. I also have not put a water bottle in mine mostly because I am not all that thirsty, but there are plenty of things I would store there. [Thinking cap donned]
Sometimes even cracking the windows sets up a ridiculous cross breeze, noise, hair destroyer environment. (I have no appreciable hair...but the wife does.) The moon roof is a nice option.
You will not regret getting it. All this silly hand wringing about drainage tubes and stuff. Forget it.
