  1. Replacement Tire suggestion: Goodyear Wrangler territory HT

Tread life? Having asked that question, I believe that any tire a person is happy with is the best tire for them. After all it's their vehicle. Ride and let ride,😅
  2. Replacement Tire suggestion: Goodyear Wrangler territory HT

With any tire, my first question is "how long do they last?😂 . Even if I had to get an all terrain tire, longevity would be my priority. At 40,000 miles/year anything else is secondary
  3. Latest Hybrid vs EcoBoost Comparison Showdown (The Fast Lane)

I have to admit that it does. It's the same thing I'll miss if I ever get an EV. That's why I'll probably always have a gasoline powered vehicle around for old times sake. But if I can't, I'll get used to the electric whine just like I'm getting used to the E-CVT drone. 😂 I'll never tolerate...
  4. Replacement Tire suggestion: Goodyear Wrangler territory HT

Exactly! I live in North (Tallahassee) Florida, so snow and ice are not an issue. In the super rare once a decade snow, we stay home 😂. I don't do any serious off roading other than an occasional muddy driveway. And I drive 40,000 miles yearly. So tread life /wet weather traction is my number 1...
  5. XLT windshield replacement with acoustic lariat glass?

It seems as if we're entering another period of supply chain shortages with some components. Sadly for the consumer, manufacturers seem to prioritize new vehicle production vs spare parts. God forbid they slow down production and allocate some of those parts for repair
  6. XLT windshield replacement with acoustic lariat glass?

That's a good lab test. A good field test would also be useful. Get 2 MAVERICKS the same year , same engine same tires and drive them the same place back to back with the owners then swapping vehicles and giving their subjective assessment.
  7. Replacement Tire suggestion: Goodyear Wrangler territory HT

I have noticed that the original equipment Continental tires that are on most Mavericks seem to have a relatively short life. And people often ask what do they suggest replacing them with. I have a suggestion. My 2025 hybrid all-wheel drive with the black appearance package came from the factory...
  8. Best tire for MPG (Hybrid 2023 XLT)

I imagine you've probably purchased new tires by now. But if you haven't. Consider the Goodyear Wrangler Territory HT. They came on my 2025 Hybrid with the Black Appearance Package. I have 42,000 miles on my truck and I still have over half the tread left.
  9. What’s the ONE piece of advice you’d give to a new Maverick owner?

Not sure. And I wish there was a better alternative. But it still beats having to replace me 😂
  10. Locked key in Mav

Believe it or not. It's you. Ford has issued a bulletin saying that many owners inadvertently lock the door when opening it. We've had several customers argue with us but realized that it was easy to do if not paying attention. It's a poor design. I actually did it once on a customer vehicle...
  11. Both Axles Need Replacement and no parts available

The axles are covered under a voluntary field service action. And the replacement axles are more robust. . Ford extended the warranty on the axles to 150,000 miles. This partially explains the unavailability. While Ford corporate can't make an axle appear out of thin air, they can often get a...
  12. What’s the ONE piece of advice you’d give to a new Maverick owner?

I'd much rather be able to walk away while complaining that my vehicle was no tougher than a tin can than to have people remarking that they don't understand how I got so badly hurt or killed when that car didn't look that bad. Today we have the luxury of LIVING to complain about all that...
  13. Latest Hybrid vs EcoBoost Comparison Showdown (The Fast Lane)

I don't totally disagree. The higher the mileage, the more caution is needed. When buying any high mileage vehicle, a THOROUGH inspection should be common sense. As a mechanic I've seen some vehicles that I'd be wary of the day the warranty expired 😂. But I've seen 200,000 mile + vehicles that...
  14. Which Engine Would Last Longer?

What a time to be driving. While nostalgia and rose colored glasses are nice when discussing old vehicles, the combination of improved oil , improved engine, improved turbos, improved fuel management, etc has combined to give us the luxury of debating whether to change the oil at 5,000 vs 10,000...
  15. Feels like a truck until…..

I've found that certain people seem to naturally drive in a vehicles sweet spot and extract maximum mpg. They don't block traffic or otherwise aggravate other drivers. They just have the natural gift of driving a vehicle more efficiently. I can be on an extended drive alternating with my sister...
  16. Upgrade FOB on 2025 XLT.

I am thinking of doing the same thing. I was waiting until the price came down. I see that it did. So I may do what you did. I do know that the 2025 has a different key fob then the 2024 and earlier vehicles.
  17. Which Engine Would Last Longer?

Down here in Florida, 10w30 was the oil that most people used . But but some people did use 10W-30 and their big engines that didn't have to do a lot of work. But I know that the oil light with flash at idle if we used 10:30 in that 1974 LTD with the 400. Heck, it flashed at idle with 10:40 once...
  18. Which Engine Would Last Longer?

5W30 was invented. In fact I remember looking at my parents owner's manual in their 1974 LTD . It's specifically said that 5W-30 could be used when temperatures were below a certain degree. I think it was 10. But the rule was that it was not to be used if the temperature was going to get above...
  19. Which Engine Would Last Longer?

I agree that older engines would survive a lot better on modern oils. But there were also many other changes . However, I would not recommend 5W-30 in a 1970s era engine simply because it is just too thin. Those older engines had larger clearances and would probably have a hard time maintaining...
