My order was placed/confirmed in mid-July and I still don't have a build date. My dealer did tell me just before Thanksgiving that it had been moved to Priority 02 though, so hopefully I get a build date on Thursday,
Haven't posted in a bit and can't tell if these statements are deliberately obtuse and/or intended to to try to bring out people's anger, but here goes...
The Maverick hybrid (likely basically every other hybrid on the market) uses both the electric and gas motors in concert. The electric motor...
After checking out the numbers, it's fairly similar in size to the Honda Crosstour that I had until last year. So I'd say a comparison to a mid-sized sedan is fair. After seeing one in person, it's definitely bigger than a compact car, but not as big as an Escape.
Grew up in Rochester NY, where the OP lives and have been in New England since I was in college. I’ve never had AWD or a 4x4. Honestly never felt the need. Had dedicated snow tires on an ‘03 Focus ZX5 and a ‘05 Malibu Maxx and those might have been the best cars I’ve ever had in the snow. The...
I drove a white one of those around NH/VT from 2007-2012. Was a great little ride. As I recall, the ZX5s didn't see nearly the same level of rust/rot that the wagons and ZX3s did.
My first impression was that it looked solid, and like a truck, not a crossover or SUV. The proportions all seemed right.
It seemed like the design was really well thought out and all the panels flowed really nicely.
The suspension looked nice too, not sure if there are differences on the FX4...
A local dealer had a trainer in today that I got a chance to take a look at. Wasn't able to get into the vehicle or the bed, but was able to get a good sense of how big the truck actually is and how it sits.
Overall impressions are that it's built like and feels like a truck, like a smaller...

Sounds like we're in the same area. I'm in Longmeadow. My wife's Escape gets serviced at Balise (part of a package) and my impressions are largely the same as yours.
I've been working with Brian Farnsworth at Marcotte.
I ordered with Marcotte Ford in Holyoke after getting jerked around by a few others in the Springfield/Greenfield 91 corridor that either didn't care enough to call me about my reservation (Balise, Sarat) wanted a massive deposit (Northampton) or didn't understand how the ordering process worked...
I was thinking the same thing re: XC skis. I'll probably get a bike tailgate pad for my mountain bike anyway and the top straps should hold my skis pretty well I think.
A surfboard pad may work too:
Yep, you gain almost nothing by buying out of state in Mass (or NY for that matter). Also found out through ordering the Maverick that the doc fees are not only not something the dealers will waive, but so established now that the state is actually taxing the doc fees.
When driving with the Toyota/Ford style hybrid system my experience has been that when you take your foot off the gas to say coast downhill, the regen braking kicks in, but It's not the same feeling as traditional engine braking where you can feel the power back off as it shifts down the gears...
I think Ford was targeting different markets/demos with each of the interior choices. The XL interior appeals to the folks that want a no nonsense truck with classic black/charcoal; the XLT appeals to the outdoor/athletic enthusiast demo with the styling of higher end running/hiking gear; and...
If it works the same way that it works in my wife's '17 Escape (not sure why it wouldn't) then yes. You can stream music from anything on your phone that has a corresponding app in CarPlay (including Sirius or Spotify) and use Google Maps at the same time. It's basically like having a pared down...
Cold temperatures definitely reduce the battery performance at slower speeds or in stop and go traffic (same for full EVs and PHEVs), and knocks down average mpg a bit. I average 45mpg in the summer but 40mpg in the dead of winter in my Lexus with little change in the type of driving/driving style.
The CT200h is very underrated, especially as a commuter. Mine has ~96K miles on it and could probably use new suspension/tires, but the engine and transmission have been perfect. I never owned an older Escape hybrid, but drove them a bunch for work, along with a Prius or two, a Fusion hybrid...
My daily driver/commuter is a 2011 Lexus CT200h hybrid. I love the car, and wouldn't have swapped it out (except maybe for a Prius wagon) before the Maverick was unveiled with the hybrid powertrain. If I drive the Lexus right, I can eek out 45mpg combined city/highway, 47.5mpg if all city, and...
