I didn't know that so many people were having that issue since it's only come up a few times. But based on the orders, it seems like most of the people who do order have a coating or liner... so I'm likely going to offer it as an official thing. It's more effort on my end to stock duplicates of...
They're going through my own testing to verify the specs are accurate. Once that's done, they'll be restocked on the website (estimating another week or two).
I designed the clips to account for bare paint (stock) up to 2mm thick bed-lining (to match OEM and most aftermarket options). Since a few people have reached out in the past, I have an unlisted version of all the brackets that are designed specifically to accommodate listings up to 3.5mm thick...
Based on other studies/comments, it looks like the deep sleep happens the most due to voltage drop when the truck is first entered/turned on. Based on personal experience, once the battery has started to die, the deep sleep will happen more often passively since the actual battery capacity...
I would have loved it if there was a separate fuse. If there is something that's really that power intensive - you can use a fuse tap for the #3 or #5 as others have pointed out.
One of the main benefits from tapping the cigarette socket is the ease of use since there's both positive/negative...
If you have an XL or XLT, it's a nice way/area to add ambient lighting.
I have learned that I shouldn't buy the OEM version until my second attempt... just in case. I might move in that direction eventually, but this is working for R&D.
It pulls out straight, or down. I insert the trim tool at the top, then lever it up to pop the panel down/off. To install, I push the panel in (straight).
I've been incredibly excited to get the parts in and do this mod. I made a splice-in harness that sits between the OEM cigarette socket connectors and so I can tap the circuit for relayed (and fused) power at the front of the cab. I use the cigarette socket for the light bar on top of the truck...
There are two series: T- and T-3. I have the T- which are brighter but were discontinued. I'm a big fan of them during the day since you can definitely see them. At night, they are noticeable but not blinding either.
They'll remain on for whatever the "Rear Powerpoint Timeout" setting is, which by default in Forscan is 90 minutes (for most models I believe). The chargers all have some visual indication - they'll either light up or display the voltage - to show that they're powered.
Much easier than people previously mentioned, especially if you get the proper version/size for your truck. We took the wheel off to make access a little bit easier, but it wasn't entirely necessary. As long as you can jack the truck up on one side (to unload the spring), it just takes time and...
Thank you, I really appreciate it. Everyone's truck is different and I do what I can to make sure that my designs not only work, but thrive through all the abuse they may take. It's incredibly satisfying to see them in the field and hear that they're doing just as well as the ones that I have on...
