I fear that we are back to the "fact vs opinion" stage of this important issue. If anyone has any EXPERIENCE with the warranty/catch can situation, PLEASE chime in. ( Yes, we know that the dealership would like to dodge warranty repair. No, the cans should not hurt the engine unless allowed to...
Last post on this topic from me, Mavstang.... but no, you can't add tow hooks. Nothing to bolt them to - search the topic if you are interested. As to "not a 4x4", the rear wheels drive when the front wheels start to slip, not a constant awd, call it what you want. Let's put it to rest.
Kidding? Are you implying that one should spend thousands more for a truck to get a twenty dollar tow hook? I am not trying to start a negative discourse, but at the time that we upgraded from hybrid to the 2.0 (very early on in the Mav offerings), 4x4 became an offering, so we went for it...
Before forking out the money for a K and N, this bears investigation: In some circles there has been the opinion voiced that while these filters MAY pass more air, they do so at the cost of inferior filtration. One could start with prosandcons dot com. Again, not saying that I know, just that...
Having a 4x4 2023 xlt, the false labeling of the "full size" spare and lack of a front tow hook are two of my pet peeves regarding the truck. Ford, are you listening? How much more would it cost to fix these two poor design deficits?
I just went through this on a mazda 3 4 cyl. and the purge valve was cheap and easy to replace. Slow filling can also be an issue with the carbon canister which has its own valve, and is harder to access. The slow filling can issue is why you NEVER top off your tank after it clicks off. I hope...
I also used my points on this hood protector. While it DOES protect against paint chips, I agree that it does nothing to deflect bugs like earlier "air foil" designs did.
Just a thought... you might consider putting the bike in at an angle to avoid loading the center of the tailgate so heavily. Cramming the wheel into a corner does add a little stability also.
True, the valve opens, but it is the INTAKE valve that is the issue, and when that valve is open, the air is being sucked into the cylinder VERY quickly..... no way for any cleaning from the downstream fuel being squirted into the cylinder IMHO.
Back in the 60's those rigs all had carburetors and that cleaner DID get sprayed on the back of the intake valves if it was in the fuel. That's not the case with a direct injection engine.
It is designed that way to get the great fuel economy that we enjoy. There are hybrid designs that have direct injection AND some injection IN the intake....and some hoped that this change would be in the new 2025 model 2.0 ecoboost. There is some confusion as to whether or not this came to...
Not meaning to start any negative discourse here, but "UPPER END" cleaning is not going to help with the valve buildup. The issue is that there is NO gas spraying on the back of the valves as the air enters the chamber like you would have in a carb or throttle body fuel delivery system...
I could be wrong about this, but it bears checking. It is my understanding that the "full size spare" that we paid extra for is not REALLY full size, just not a mini spare. I am not sure if a true full spare will fit under the bed. Having a four wheel drive where tire size would be a factor...
I hear you... glad it works for you. IMHO, it adds wear and tear on the bearings and starter motor that will bite your tail if you keep the truck for the long haul. (The oil pressure does not protect the bearings on startup.) It would have been easy for Ford to include the option as a setup choice.
Thanks for posting that ! Turning off the engine at a stop sign is NOT one of the truck's better habits, IMHO, and the inability to over-ride this function once and for all is a Ford shortcoming. ( Mine is on the way from ebay - also available from Amazon at higher cost.)
Do you REALLY think that it is a good idea to post your "hiding place" on a public forum? Maybe you hybrid owners could tape an extra key to the much loved starter battery and cross your fingers. Sorry, just how the thought process goes before the second cup of coffee.... "Make it a good day!"
Don't laugh at that sticker decal ! The manual link indicates that the added weight of the trailer hitch lowers the rear end, thus allowing the muffler bearings to drag on the ground over speed bumps. The results may well be more Mavericks joining the "Totaled after rear end collision/failure"...
