Bought a minivan in 2011 brand new for $27k flat, which was a ton off of list price. I think it listed around the same as this Escape, which was $36,475 MSRP.
The Maverick MSRP when built was $28,790 but I had price protection, plus A-plan, so I was around $2,200 below that.
One of the...
It should get a couple of MPG more per gallon as well. At $27,503 before my $500 trade it is officially the most expensive vehicle I ever bought. The 23 Maverick was around $26,600 as I ordered it in September 2022 on the A-plan.
I'm in the sales numbers for August. I bought my wife a leftover 2024 Ford Escape ST hybrid on August 30.
On August 29 my mechanic sent me pictures of the frame on my 2002 Grand Marquis - it had big holes rusted through it. He suggested I not repair the rear wheel bearings, and just drive...
58 - worked in corporate taxation most of my career until I got too old for Corporate America a few years ago and they paid me to leave. I then switched sides and I work for a local taxing authority, primarily auditing business related taxes. I know how things are done, so to speak.
Hybrid batteries - we have a 2009 Toyota Prius with 172k miles, and the original hybrid battery pack. When/if it goes down, there are a lot of aftermarket sources for new/refurbished batteries. Right now, Greenbean will remove your old battery, and install a replacement in your driveway. Your...
Mine is usually overly optimistic by 3-6%. It is further off the colder the weather.
My commute is only 3.1 miles, so when cold the engine runs a lot to warm up the hybrid battery.
And yet how completely similar every automaker's products are now. SUV body style with a turbo engine are dime a dozen now. Take off the badges and no one would know...
Inventory has been going up every month.
I think Ford has reached the pain point on prices for the vehicle. My 23 was a great buy at a little under $27k with A-plan, but a 2025 would be MSRP $33,460 equipped the same way.
I live in Ohio, and from early November to early April I use the heated seats and heated steering wheel. In fact, I don't need to run the heat in the truck until the temperature is under 40 degrees. I use a seat cover the rest of the years, and take it off when I start using the heated seat...
10% ethanol gas is 18 cents a gallon cheaper around here than 100% "pure" gasoline.
I never buy the 10% unless forced to on trips. I can look at my fill ups on "Fuelly" and immediately tell you which ones were the 10% ethanol tanks.
My 12 month adjustment warranty ends in about two weeks. I have a slight buzz in the dash over on the passenger side that occurs every so often over certain roads. I'm not sure it is worth the risk of the dealer creating other issues that appear later from trying to fix this one.
I always...
My computer overstates quite a bit as well, though it is getting less and less at the truck gets miles. I think the difference is down to around 3% now.
I'm not worried about the 2.5 l Ford hybrid system - it is a pretty proven design that has been built for years, and not that big at 1.1 kwh.
I'm more concerned about all the software and electronic crap that never ages well.
As far as hybrid batteries, I also have a 2009 Toyota Prius with...
I mostly agree, as I will say $33k for an XLT with the luxury package and spray in bedliner is not a particularly great deal. The design is functional and well thought out, but the best part of the vehicle is the drivetrain. The build quality and materials used are average at best.
Granted...
Bought it because it was an inexpensive practical vehicle that could get mileage close to 40 mpg.
What other vehicle get 40 mpg, can carry bulky items like a refrigerator, and costs under $30k?
Seriously looking at a 2025 Camry sedan for my wife - hope to squeeze under $30k on that one as well.
