My scenario is almost identical. Stopped at the end of an exit ramp, made a normal left hand turn onto a road and the Maverick started shaking my coach. I looked in my rearview camera and could see it dancing back and forth so stopped and started up again and it was okay. We went ahead and...
On my XLT the key is turned to the "off" position for towing. In that position everything is off, but the key cannot be removed. The brakes seem to work fine, in fact I had to change the settings on my RVI2 brake compared to the Jeep Liberty I also tow - the Maverick is much more sensitive to...
Update: last Wed I received notification that a special order had been placed for a Steering Column Assembly. On Mon the service advisor responded to my status request with your truck will be ready Wed. On Wed the response was that the mechanic was trying to finish it by end of the day. Late Wed...
On my XLT Hybrid in order to tow one must engage the "Neutral Tow" mode and turn the key to the "Off" position. That would imply any electronic braking is turned off. With that said I found the Maverick brakes to be very sensitive. I use a RVI2 Brake supplemental brake and it took a bit to find...
Update: had the truck towed to the dealership Mon. morning. I just talked to the service advisor, he said 3 recalls are completed and steering problem escalated to FMC as a "hot case". They are not sure what is wrong. Could be a module or could be mechanical, they want to make sure the diagnosis...
First Sergeant, what dimension are you referring to? Is it the distance between the arms at the toad or the length of the arms? If referring to the arm to arm distance at the toad, the 2 3/8" difference only changes the MH to toad distance by ~1/2". Several years ago we had this discussion on...
I drove mine about 16 miles from the campground to town and back. Be warned the steering is VERY difficult. I almost couldn't turn enough to make a couple of corners.
I towed the Mav home (~250 miles) with no problems. Have it scheduled to be towed to the dealership on Mon morning.
Wow! That's crazy. Yours is a bit different from what I experienced. My death wobble also happened making a left turn, but mine was at very low speed and I could see the truck going back and forth in my rear view camera. So the right tire would have been on the outside of the left turn, wonder...
Thanks for the reply. That's kinda what I'm thinking with the neutral tow and steering. I too check to ensure neutral tow mode is really enabled - push truck back to lock tow bar and check steering and it did seem there was no power assist. I did the battery disconnect thing - no joy. As...
I tow my 2023 Mav Hybrid behind my motor home. Yesterday while making a turn from a full stop off a freeway exit ramp the Mav went into a violent shaking/ death wobble. I quickly stopped and started up and it seemed normal. Went ahead to fuel up and checked but didn't see anything obvious...
Mine fit well - easy install. I did have the passenger side front of the front flare come loose, but I think it was due to poor prep on my part. I was able to pull it back a bit, thoroughly clean the area and use some heavy duty double sided tape to reinstall. Just because, I did the same for...
Based on many different posts for several not connected issues it seems like the OEM Ford battery may be the root of all evil! Hope you get your issues resolved.
My checklist is much shorter - bullets only. I thought I had the disable neutral tow procedure down but missed the step to depress the...
Sorry for the long post, it has been a learning process. I've only towed the Mav 3 times. The 1st was uneventful and I was feeling great - perfect toad. 2nd time was a train wreck. We had gone to the NASCAR championships in Phoenix and when we got ready to leave on Mon. morning the truck would...
I have mud flaps and a rock guard on the motor home. Rock guards continue to be topic of discussion on RV forums - some swear by them and some say they kick up rocks. I also had clear protective film applied to the front of the Maverick which does protect the paint. I find small rocks on the...
I use a RVI Brake II. I did have to experiment with the settings to avoid having it engage during normal braking. Now it only engages during hard braking as it did when used in my Jeep Liberty. Now I just need to remember what settings I used for the Jeep if I decide to tow it.
I am in a similar situation - drive the truck only about once a week, it would go into deep sleep mode often. It always started up so I just lived with it. I also tow the Mav behind my MH and on a recent trip I went to get the truck ready for the day and found it completely dead. I ended up...
That's not the way it works. The dealer/manufacture must prove that any modifications caused a problem. See "MAGNUSON MOSS WARRANTY ACT" for the mind numbing details.
I have for sale a new in the box Smoke Hood Protector. Bought it from Ford and found it will not work on my truck due to having protective film applied. This sells for $79 on the Ford Accessories site, I'm asking $50 for it with pick-up in the Albuquerque, NM area.
