Could also be they are locking you in to buy a 22 that thry know someone bailed on but hasn'tbeen delivered yet. Either way, this is shady and I would go somewhere else on August to get in line for a 23 model.
They don't need them, but all those laptops and stuff they bought ate up space st the chip fabs. Ford is competing for resources with all the tech manufacturers and their stuff makes chipmakers a lot more money than the kinds of chips Ford uses.
Not that much to it. Ford expected orders to tank when COVID shut the world down and since they don't stockpile more than they need they canceled chip orders. But, orders didn't tank nearly as much as expected and Ford had to go to the back of the line at chip fabs. Automobiles use fairly basic...
Are these the same analysts that said the chip shortage would resolve in 2021, then later in 2021, then the first quarter of 2022, then the second half of 2022? It's not going to get better for the auto industry any time soon. My bet is chips will be in short supply for cars until the new fabs...
Wow...you just summarized 90% of this site. As for the other 10%, 7% is people like me complaining about Ford and not having a truck yet, 2% is people asking for details about the truck, and 1% who have gotten their trucks talking about aftermarket upgrades.
Ford seems to be pushing out trucks from the line and parking them at the factory until they get chips in. Buyers still get the build email with the normal estimates of time on it, and then continue getting emails that their completion dates are shifting. Ford seems to get chips in fits and...
There's been a bunch of crashes reported on this forum, most with pictures of some mangled trucks. So far everyone has walked away. I know it's not exhaustive or scientific, but at least they seem safe. I won't be running mine into embankment at 70, mostly because I don't even have a build date yet.
I don't think it effects you at all. If you've already been scheduled and pushed back Ford will get your truck on the line when it can, and will fit it into scheduled production when whatever is holding up your truck is resolved. This affects those of us that have aging orders that haven't been...
Shouldn't be a surprise, it's what Mr. Farley said they'd do on a shareholder conference call a couple months ago. He said they'd divert resources to higher profit models.
I'm already going to have to shell out money to rent something because what I needed the truck for is going to come and go whether I get scheduled or not at this point, so I'll probably get picked sometime week in April for a June build and July delivery (just after the window I could use it...
If Ford and dealers couldn't get me a truck in '21, and don't feel like getting me one in '22, I have no reason to believe they'll take care of me at my little dealership in '23, either. I think if they don't get me this year (big if, there's still a lot of '22 left) I'll move on to a different...
Depends on parts shortages. Could be plenty of hybrids picked if the modules can be installed later. Either way, getting a hybrid scheduled this week is going to be irrelevant since it won't be delivered any time soon.
