Electric power assist on the steering helps a lot. If you set it for tow haul it will also stiffen up the steering more so than in normal mode to help keep from oversteering when you turn the wheel.
Yep and will overheat brake pads if engaged too long, thankfully Ford has a temp. sensor or something similar which will force a shut off of the HDC function until the brakes cool down when they get too hot.
If true I'd say they are doing it to not so much for sales but as a marketing gimmick to try to get the perception that a Santa Cruz and future similarly designed vehicles that look the same are not trucks but SUVs or cars with beds.
Understood, I plan to put A / T tires on for the first tire change I just don't see what the benefit of going to larger tires from a performance standpoint.
I've run my truck which has the 4k tow package with about 3500lbs including the trailer and about 1000lbs of concrete loaded into the bed. I was able to do 55 - 60 MPH with no major inclines or declines just fine. the rear wanted to sway and was very noticeable but I was able to drive it with...
Yes it should work. Canadians on this board have successfully done it and they use KMPH.
It should use the country and region settings already programmed in the IPMA module to determine if the signs should be displayed in KMPH or not.
I get the better grip aspect of all terrain tires but why not just put on 225 65 / R17 A/T tires instead? I just don't know if .5 inch lift by itself really gains you anything except the speedometer that no longer reads correctly without figuring out the new tire circumference + how Ford adjusts...
Going from 225 65 / R17 tires to 245 65 / R17 only gets you about .5 inch of lift. What do you realistically gain by .5 inch of lift in real world performance for off roading?
You are right about them putting TRM modules with hitch receivers with a 4 pin connector. Looks like they just don't wire up the trailer switch and program it differently most likely to communicate to the IPC that a trailer is connected and to the ABS to use different braking strategy for the...
The tenative answer is this upon further digging. At least in this case it has a receiver hitch and 4 pin connector, @Ranch is correct about the TRM being installed with a receiver hitch and 4 pin connector. The question is do they also come with the brake control switch in the front dash. The...
Here is another VIN that doesn't have a hitch receiver and also has the TRM module on the factory build.

With that said the listing could be wrong and it has a receiver hitch.
You can't get 4k towing period on any FWD Maverick because of the suspension system being different from AWD trucks. There is only one way an FWD is built with a trailer brake controller, it was offered as separate item at some point in 2022.
Here is a VIN for you to run through the Ford as built database.
3FTTW8E38NRA96819
The pertinent parts of the VIN
(W8E)(3)
to interpret that section
The W8* applies to AWD or FWD
W8E = FWD
W8F = AWD
The number next to it denotes the engine type
3 = 2.5L hybrid
9 = 2.0L ecoboost
We've...
Me neither and that is why I bought the 4k package on the XL. I needed the towing capacity, even if I didn't the added cooling is always good thing for the engine and transmission longevity as long as you keep up on your fluid changes and I still would have sprung for it anyways since I was not...
If you use aftermarket parts it will be cheaper for sure but not if you buy the OEM parts from Ford. How much do you think a shop is going to charge you to replace those items? I also forgot to add the larger cooler fan and shroud to the parts list.
The MSRP price on the fan and shroud is ~$359...
They were last year, I've seen a bunch of builds with the trailer brake control module in the as built data that didn't also have the 4k package. Apparently they dropped it now, when exactly I don't know but I checked the build options and you are correct it is not offered now as an extra or...
The constrained item on the 4k tow is the hitch receiver. There maybe others in the package also but that is one of the known constrained items. As far as needing 4K tow depends what you want to trailer with the truck. Besides the the hitch with 4 and 7pin and brake controller, you also get your...
