I love the Dial Shifter! As someone who has driven Standard all my like the dial prevents me from making any stupid mistakes like I have with rental cars.
They were looking at the the demand for a smaller size pickup like the original Ford Range. There are still a very a large of the original Rangers on the road because there weren't any new trucks that size available in north America.
The rotary shifter has prevent me from making a a big mistake several times. I've driven standard my whole life so it's just natural to grab the lever and try to move it. I've done that with rental and loner vehicles but with the rotary there's nothing to grab so no mistakes.
I did that last week and got around the problem by surrounding my load of brush with a large tarp. The resulting load was about as high as the truck's roof.
