Our new Subaru spooked me the first time I was out in the garage for awhile. When parked it runs an EVAP purge and some other maintenance, sounds like a small pump running for a few minutes.
That and the constant pinging of diagnostic data murdered the factory battery during a run of sub-zero...
Are you running in Eco mode? Wondering if it's avoiding a downshift and dogging your motor.
Keeping RPMs too low to meet load is annoying on normal motors; toss in a turbo and it can get more violent and raise the potential for damage.
Ignoring entertainment and the backup camera: is there anything else the center screen offers that you can't access or configure elsewhere in the vehicle?
I've been thinking it would be rad to replace the screen with higher-spec, automotive-grade device that can accept HDMI input.
From there...
My current car has been paid off for ages but isn't going to be suitable for daily driving much longer. I ordered my Maverick with the knowledge that the clock was ticking and spec'd it in a way that should make it comfortable to keep for 10 years+.
For those that ordered 2023s, is the Smart...
Grab some faraday bags to store your keys in, they're cheap and should stop repeater attacks. Steering wheel clubs are also making a comeback, can't use a laptop to defeat that (well, maybe depends on how motivated your are.)
Definitely worried about Maverick theft since the demand is so high...
Oof, looks like the wiring is a lot more involved, I was assuming CAN control was also in play on the XL/XLT windows. The connectors are completely different, looks like the standard windows are controlled directly by the switches.
Sounds like as others have found, it's probably not worth the...
Went trolling the Ford parts since it feels silly my wife's Subaru, that cost us $6k less than my future truck will, has a dual direction, one-touch driver's window.
Motor assembly is different, part number on the motor ends in "BA" instead of "AA":
One touch, up and down...
My first attempt at ordering a Maverick, placed around noon on 9/16. Build is scheduled for the week of 12/5.
XLT EcoBoost, AWD, 4K tow, Lux package, upgraded machined wheels, full spare, remote start, and sliding rear window.
You would think so, especially since it just needs to be a bump in the floor pan, but there's plenty of old beaters that don't have them. Jeep Wranglers come to mind, my co-worker also had an old Japanese rust bucket that didn't have one.
Tilt sensor and alarm definitely important, seems around here unless it's a Kia the thieves are grabbing cars with a flatbed in the middle of the day (who questions a tow truck driver?)
At home keep your fob in a faraday pouch or the microwave: Some cheap pouches
If you're worried about...
IDK, I could see adding something similar to haul things that don't 100% fit in the bed (eg. a large mattress, would probably pop off the rack). I think you could put a decent amount of weight on something like the Truxedo CT covers as well, but IMO this would feel less dodgy.
That tow cleat...
If someone wants to send me their Maverick for a few months I'll build one of those large multi-segment displays like you see in rally cars. Betting you can pull that info from the CANBUS with a bit of python and some experimentation, maybe even request gear changes.
Any auto finance requests within 30 days get lumped together into one hit on your credit. If you have decent credit history it probably won't be more than 5-10 points.
Definitely hit up the local credit unions, Capital One auto finance, etc. If you walk into the dealership with pre-approvals...
This has me thinking of ditching the XLT Lux package +$170 remote start on my 2023 order, doing aftermarket lumbar adjust and seat heating, then toss in a quality two-way remote start and security system. I'd still come out ahead over the cost of the Lux package, can have multiple fobs with all...
How much harder do you think it would be to toss in heated seats while you're in there? Honestly lumbar adjust + the heated seats were the big drivers for adding XLT Lux to my package, everything else I can pick at aftermarket (plus add a legit leather wrapped wheel instead of the now-ActiveX...
Your needs might vary, but we have a lot of dirt roads and asphalt roads that are halfway to reverting back to dirt, so rock protection is a big one from day one.
* Mud flaps (I think most OEM fitted ones are nearly useless, Rally Armor URs, RockBlockz if a fitment isn't available)
* Bug/rock...
