I was referring to auto stop/start, not auto start. Assumed OP was referring to stop/start but could be mistaken.

I found (inadvertently) if climate is on defrost setting (just defrost) it doesn't engage. Defrost setting stays same after shutoff, so if you live in a moderate climate you can set and forget about auto s/s.
