Why does having a VIN guarantee a 2022 build? With folks getting pushed back weeks/months already it seems like Ford could simply push us right back to 2023 if they had to.

It's the lack of state income tax. They can spend down tax-deferred retirement accounts without paying state income tax. Probably there are estate tax benefits too. I lived in Florida for a few years myself and will probably go back for retirement in 30 years. If it isn't underwater or fullblown...

I sincerely hope you are right. With wait times of around a year it would absolutely suck to get a lemon. Or get killed or hurt (or hurt someone else) because the truck suddenly shut offs in freeway traffic. Fingers crossed. 🤞

Only Ford knows failure rates and so far they ain't telling. Best we can do is hope for a reliable build and make a decision about whether to keep/resell based on our individual risk thresholds.

Got my first build week from chat about a month out. And second, delayed build week from chat. Then my third delayed build week via Tuesday email about 10 days out. Then my fourth delayed build week via Wednesday email about 2 weeks out. At this point who knows what will happen next. 🤷

9/13 Chapman order. Hybrid XLT, hitch. Back in late April, got a VIN and 6/6 build week. Already pushed back to week of 6/13. Expecting more changes and perhaps August delivery.

Hang in there. FMC is definitely working through September hybrids. My 9/13 got a June 6 build week. Seen others scheduled too. You'll get there!
