As someone else already posted, a folding step stool is a potential solution. At 5'-5 and 63, this is what I used for my Tacoma which is notably higher than the Maverick. I store it in the floor in the back seat. It isn't very elegant, but it works for me.
That's interesting. My other vehicle is a Lincoln MKZ, and I'm quite pleased with the start button there. Of course, there are two significant differences: 1. It's a Lincoln (cousin), and 2. It's a sedan. Still, I find that interesting.

I wish it were higher up than it is. It's quite a bit lower than any other vehicle I've owned with a pch button start. Aside from that, it isn't a knee hazard for me.
