The one time usage bolts secure the tank, not the drive shaft.
I was wrong about this. The bolts that secure the tank are loctite coated and should not be reused. The drive shaft bolts also should not be reused. My bad.
Yes. This topic was discussed in excruciating detail last fall when people discovered the dimensions of the “full size spare“. Everything imaginable from precise measurements to technical review of dimension changes with velocity and inflation pressure have been posted. It got way more attention...
The Mav is a pleasure to drive. I switched from a 4Runner. The Mav rides far flatter and smoother than the 4Runner, has much more pep and is about as quiet. Is it a BMW? No. But it compares well with unibody SUVs.
My Mav does not shift real smoothly in the low gears when I accelerate real slowly. It is quite smooth when I accelerate a bit more rapidly and also under hard acceleration. I’m not going to worry about it.
Some years ago I let my wife’s tag expire and the second day afterwards she was stopped for a routine license and registration inspection in NC. She got a ticket and is still mad about it. I’ll hear about it for the rest of my life. Chances of a routine stop theses days are nil, but my advice is...
I once had a Corvette that got water in the gas tank. Caused problems after the water had all been removed. It is a long shot, but maybe some water was sucked out of the old tank? Any hole in the tank would have been directly under the drain holes in the bed.
I have used King’s Auto Service on North West Street near Glenwood South for many years. They work on most any brand but their sweet spot is Ford, Chevy, Jeep and the like - traditional American brands. They are not the cheapest but I have been very satisfied with them. If they encounter...
2.0 lux Lariat fx4. Really minor complaints. The front under bumper spoiler (no idea about the proper terminology) seems really low. I have to be careful to stop short of curbs. Someone else mentioned that the gas tank filler cover opens when you lean into the bed. would like to be able to tilt...
Front seats in my Lariat are very comfortable. As some have mentioned, it would be nice to be able to tilt the seat bottom, but for me that is a minor complaint. Made two trips of 300 miles each way on I95 without complaint. No idea about the back seats.
It is surprising how rare they seem to be aside of the few that one sees at dealerships. Other than mine, I have seen only two “in the wild” in Raleigh NC. Also saw one at a fast food place in VA along I95.
Lariat Lux with standard FX4 Pirellis. Noise depends on road surface. Very little wind noise. Very quiet overall on smooth road surface but can be noisy on some pavements. I have driven about 1200 miles on I40 and I95 and i don’t think it is very loud on typical interstate roads. But on rough...
Regarding wind stability. I drove from Raleigh to Baltimore on February 19. It was really, really windy. When we stopped at a rest stop it was difficult to hold the upwind door open to exit the truck. And according to World Weather Info the average wind velocity during the day in Baltimore on...
