I just pulled the factory 235/65R17 Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws off my '24 Tremor at 30,000 miles because they were completely toast—already hitting the wear bars and dryrot! I’m not exactly heavy on the throttle, but they just didn’t hold up for me at all.
I ended up ditching the OEMs and stepping...
Thanks for digging those photos up! Seeing exactly where that oil was pooling really helps. It’s crazy that it was already migrating like that at only 2,000 miles.
I’m definitely going to use these as a reference when I get mine up on the stands for my 30k service. If I see any of that dampness...
Look great! How are they to clean? Easy to remove and install?
I’ve always found the OEM and WeatherTech mats to be a real pain to scrub down once they get that ground-in dirt. Those TuxMats look like they have much better coverage for the sides too!
Found them on Amazon Very Nice a bit pricey...
Good call, I’m actually prepping for a full 30k 'reset' service now—doing a trans drain and fill, plus the PTU and RDU. I’m curious to see what that old fluid looks like. I've got a list going for filters, brakes, and everything else down the road too.
Great catch on the transmission breather vent. Since I catch the smell mostly at stoplights when things are heat-soaked, it makes total sense that it would pull into the cabin from under the airbox. I'll check for any residue around there when I drop the skid plate!
Thanks for the reply! It’s definitely a relief to hear yours has been doing it since new and you’re still going strong at 50,000 miles. It makes me feel a lot better about the truck's longevity despite the 'ghost' smell. If the dealer couldn't find it after that many miles. Glad to hear you're...
Glad to hear it hasn’t been a constant issue for you. It sounds like these 'whiffs' might just be part of the Maverick experience for some of us. Hopefully, mine clears up soon like yours did!
Thanks for sharing that! That timing cover leak is exactly the kind of 'real world' info I was looking for. I’m going to check that area specifically when I get under there. Sorry to hear about the recalls, but glad you got the leak spotted.
Great breakdown on the bolt sizes and that slotted trick. I'll be keeping these specs in my notes for when I'm under there with my tools. Thanks for the heads up!
Glad to have some company in the 'oil smell' club! I was starting to think I was imagining it.
Interesting that you’re catching it on the Hybrid too. Since you’ve been on here a long time, have you noticed if yours is more frequent after an oil service, or does it just seem to happen randomly...
I didn't know the FX4 had the steel plate too—good to know.
Since I'm the second owner and just had that one shop service in the snow, I'm still trying to narrow it down. I'll have to get under there and see what's actually going on once the weather clears up. Appreciate the feedback!
Hey everyone,
I’m trying to see if this is a platform-wide issue or just me. I have a 2024 Tremor (2.0L EcoBoost) with 30k miles, and I’ve been catching a faint, intermittent smell of burning oil in the cabin—mostly at stoplights after a long drive.
No leaks on the ground, the oil level is...
The original owner actually left the window sticker in the glovebox—straight into my maintenance folder it goes! I’m the second owner of this '24 Tremor, but I’m keeping the paper trail going 100%
Coming from an F-150/Ranger: My Maverick "Wish List"
Hey everyone, just joined the Maverick family! I’m loving the truck so far, but coming from an F-150 and a Ranger, there are a few "truck basics" I really miss. If Ford is listening, here’s what would make the Maverick perfect:
