Well, I was thinking to just put a layer on outer part of the flap only, since that is what got chewed. This does assume the tape is thin enough to not interfere with the flap operation, and the tape adheres well to the flap.

Anyone here use Honda's rodent tape? I assume you could just tape it on those flaps as an alternative.

I like this. I see myself using it as a trash can without the cupholder most of the time. Then just using out the cupholder part when there is someone in the backseat who needs it.

Would have to agree this is the most likely explanation. Keep in mind, at the time of the sale, this buyer had no way of knowing the person originally ordering the truck actually wanted it. Certainly the dealer would not tell them.
