I just did a quick google search for "hitch step when tailgate down". There are actually a lot of very reasonable options.
Here are the 3 that caught my eye, ranging from $90 to $150:

In principle, I agree. I'm willing to pay a fuel fee if the dealership is saving me a lot of money. But the fuel fee should be reasonable for the amount of fuel. The Maverick has a 16.5 gallon tank. $80 puts it a little under $5 per gallon. $200 puts it at over $12 a gallon.
Yeah, I ordered the XL. It looks like, from the threads I've seen, that it will have the vinyl floor. And I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I LOVE the Sparkle Silver steel wheels. I do want the cruise control, but I'm not willing to pay the trim level difference for it. Admittedly, I...
Good call keeping it simple. I added a few things to mine (ice engine, 4k towing), but I love the simplicity of the XL. Just wish it had crank windows and manual door locks. And a manual transmission. But I'm getting left in the past.
When I ordered an XL, the salesman told me that tinted windows come standard on XLT and Lariat. I opted to have the XL windows tinted as a dealer add-on.
I have small children. I suspect I'm going to have to just use towels or blankets until some of the seat cover manufacturers can get the pattern and start making them.
I am also curious about all this. I've never owned a car with different drive modes. I would guess that "Sport" mode would keep it in lower gears for longer, giving it more torque in each gear. But I don't know what the advantage to that would be in a small pickup truck. It's not exactly race-tuned.
At this point, nothing. My 2011 Kia Forte with 165,000 miles still runs fine. And my wife's 2013 Kia Sorento with 117,000 miles runs fine. But I've been wanting a truck for a long time. And the timing of this truck will put us in a good position to replace the Sorento when that time comes. I've...
I'm a few months late to the party, but I love it. Manual door locks, manual windows, manual transmission, manual mirrors, manual window on the back glass. Everything you need and nothing you don't. Sold for 10k. If they re-released this exact truck for 13-15k, they'd sell them like hot cakes...
I looked up this Chevy Cheyenne. Good God, it's ugly. They took the front end right from the HHR. There's definitely room in the market for a BEV trucklet. But it won't take a very large market share. People want hauling power and range. Even if you live in a city and an electric vehicle is fine...
Agree 100%. The Santa Cruz looks like a sportier Subaru Baja. The Maverick looks like a Ranger. Without a side by side comparison, it's even hard to tell that it's smaller than a Ranger.
Let's not forget the impact on the warranty. You're buying a brand-new truck with a 3 year, 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Do you want the warranty to include the bed-liner and the bed? Or do you want to immediately void the warranty on the bed by having someone sand off the paint and...
I don't want to be "that guy" but pre-ordering is really for people that KNOW what they want. If you're the guy who needs to see it in person and see all of the features and all of the trim levels, it might be best to wait until dealers have some stock for you to evaluate. That being said...
It's also a really good idea to see what warranties dealers are offering. Around me, the dealerships are fighting tooth and nail for business, so they're offering really good warranties beyond the manufacturer warranties. I ordered my Maverick through a local dealership that includes a lifetime...
Some trucks will roll off the line in about 6 weeks, but none of us can be sure that OURS will. From what I've seen, mine won't. I ordered a FWD XL with the 4k tow package, so (if other threads in this forum are to be believed) the A/T tires will push my build back in the scheduling. Hopefully...
I agree that I'd love to see more a la carte options. But the beauty of the Maverick is it's simplicity and it's budget-friendliness. As much as I hate trim levels, they create "standard" trucks that make production easier. But I definitely agree that all options should be available at all trim...
