  1. Best riding all weather tire you've found

My Continentals are about worn out now at 30000 miles. I do like those tires because they stayed balanced (round), smooth, and quiet. Many other brands I've had become bumpy, noisy and out of balance as they wore down. The Continental's traction has been better than average. My next set will...
  2. DIY Floor jack and jack stand saddle: I've never felt safer

I've personally bent a pinch weld over sideways with hydraulic jack. Not so strong without a saddle supporting it. Don't have that car anymore so no picture. Just testimony.
  3. Electric Jack

Bring your cordless drill with a 7/8 inch socet using one of those 1/4 in impact to 3/8 drive socket adapters from Harbor Freight for $2.59 or something. Use that drill with the scissor jack. Not only does it work efforlessly and fast, but a drill is small and you may already own one. But...
  4. Well it happened. 2 inch puck lift CV Joint

Both increasing angle and increasing torque will increase wear CVs faster. But if you want more clearance it's worth it Driving habits can be significant too. Frequent high power in low gears, especially while the wheels are sharply turned, will wear CVs really fast. Refraning from stomping...
  5. Dealer wants to change my Tranny fluid at 55K miles

My humble opinion on trans fluid condition is that any degradation of smoothness in gear shifting is often corrected by fresh fluid. This was true for my Edge with the same 8 speed my EB Maverick has, and my Volvo, Toyota, and Honda. Some cars wear out fluids faster than others. Everyones...
  6. Dealer wants to change my Tranny fluid at 55K miles

I don't know about checking fluid level and fluid condition on the eCVT, but most every other fluid on my 2019 Ford Edge needed changing before the recommended interval. The Edge has nearly the nearly exact same 2.0 Eco Boost and 8 spd transmission that my 2024 Maverick has. Mostly, the...
  7. Water leakage with tonneau covers

I feel your pain, I was hoping for the bed to stay dry too. Disappointment increased when I drove through Canyonlands National Park and all my stuff turned red from the dust coming in under the tailgate. But at least the tonneau still keeps stuff from being blown around or being blown out of...
  8. Water leakage with tonneau covers

Water leaks in around the edges of the tonneau, and dirt road dust clouds in from under the tailgate through that huge gap that drains water when going up hills. Truck beds are not clean rooms. So, delicate cargo goes in the back seat (aka auxillary cargo hold) to stay dry, clean, and room...
  9. Bluetooth Cuts Out Constantly

Both calls and streaming music always go through Bluetooth, whether or not Car Play or Android auto is connected via USB or WiFi. So however the call drop problem is mitigated or not mitigated (as the user case may be) by running AA or ACP is a mystery. In my experience, streaming audio never...
  10. Bluetooth Cuts Out Constantly

It's a problem with my '24 XL also. Noteworthy is that the problem always occurs exactly at 90 seconds into a call. However, for me, calls with Android Auto running solves the problem, so I run AA whenever I might make or take a call. My guess is that Ford cannot fix the problem even if they...
  11. USB Carplay/Phone Charging Issues

The giid part of Android Auto is that support for maps and some other apps like Spotify on your phone are already in the XL trim package and no additional apps are needed. Just start a route on Google Maps and plug in your phone. No further action is needed. The directions are then on the...
  12. USB Carplay/Phone Charging Issues

True, only a few phones need more than 5 watts. Most do not. My last Samsung did need more power. It got hot while running Android Auto, evidence to how power thirsty it was. My current phone, a budget Samsung, is good with low power. It does not heat up running AA. But with a fast charger it...
  13. USB Carplay/Phone Charging Issues

I should have added to my post that the USB-A and USB-C ports in the truck ARE compliant with the USB standard. But the USB standard does not require fast charging capability, which is an extension of the USB standard. Fast charging, again an option for USB, raises the voltage of the USB port...
  14. USB Carplay/Phone Charging Issues

Forget the USB-A and USB-C ports for charging your phone. They are slow 5 watt ports. Many phones need more power to run car play or android auto. Use those USB ports for a wireless adapter. Get a 20 watt fast charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. You will be glad you did!
  15. Mountain Bike Rack

Much more than kinda DIY'd, I say it's a work of art!
  16. Mountain Bike Rack

Consider using a trailer. A U-Haul 4x7 trailer is only $15 per day, has ample room for 4 bikes, and leaves the bed available for all the other stuff 4 riders will be needing.
  17. Does anyone have a recommendation for a tailgate pad to carry mountain/ebikes hanging over the tailgate?

Use a bath towel folded over itself a few time so that most of it is under the bike frame and fork and not flapping in the breeze. Don't forget to gently strap your bike down so the towel stays put over a bump. I have found that nothing else is more gentle to a bike or tailgate! Then enjoy...
  18. Phone mount Samsung s24 ultra for above the touchscreen + Base mount so you can make your own. 3d Printed

Functional beauty matters! Like the A-10 Warthog, senators hate it, but infantry loves it. I like this custom design because it holds the phone just below the view of traffic so the driver can see the screen and traffic at the same time, and it also has a sun shade, a feature that everyone...
  19. Phone mount Samsung s24 ultra for above the touchscreen + Base mount so you can make your own. 3d Printed

Very nice! Imagine having maps without android auto or car play taking over the other uses of the info screen.
  20. Short stubby antennas

The stock antenna survives the automatic carwash brushes. No problem so far. Feeling dorky is adressed by resolute certainty of manhood. Check. I have more interest in a longer antenna since I do road trips in places over 100 miles from any town. Out there only AM is available. The ideal...
