When it came time to replace my wife's beloved Saturn Vue we decided that a hybrid would be a good choice; she wanted a SUV and a hybrid seemed like it would be a good choice for most of her driving; around town or less than a 25 mile radius from town. The Escape was the only hybrid SUV that...
I like it, too. However, I'll admit I was slightly disappointed when I got the hybrid Mav, I'd been driving nothing but a hybrid Escape for about a year or so and it's "hybrid noises" are a bit more satisfying than the Mav's; rather the "dink dink dink" sound in reverse the Escape makes a very...
When we leave town to go south for the winter I always plug the Escape Hybrid (Same basic running gear as a Mav Hybrid) into a battery tender. Never have a problem. That's what battery tenders are for. I do the same w/ the battery in the old BMW R90, again no problems.
Strange as it may sound, mine is named "Bellville." Why? the last five numbers of the VIN are the same as the ZIP Code of a small town in Michigan named Bellville. Hey, it made sense to me! (Equipped w/ Mabett mud flaps, cubby phone holder, rear fender opening cover, and a bunch of other stuff.)
When I was shopping for my Mav I almost bought a "new" Lariat that had about 60 miles on it. It had been at a dealership where several vehicles took hail damage and the dealer I was working w/ on it had gotten three or four of them. It was being sold as NEW with a clear title rather than as a...
No problem, I plan to loop the cable over the receiver or, at least, thread the plug through the safety chain loop. That way I can control the amount hanging down and even if it comes unplugged, which I doubt would happen, the plug and wires won't drag on the highway.
Thank you! Like many on here have said, I've always thought the trailer hitch receiver area, the way it comes from the factory, looks really "unfinished." I like the idea of the OEM plastic piece but didn't like the idea of the light plug there in the middle of it. When I first started...
The last I knew it was Ford Part #NZ6Z17F000AB. Ford pars places, both dealers and on-line and eBay have them. It comes completely flat and you have to cut out for the receiver and light plug. Most have been doing theirs w/ the light plug in the factory location. I wanted to move mine (as...
Again, thanx for the assisst!
OK, so with that information I was able to get it done the way I wanted. I got the bumper blank-out plate several months ago and even got the notch cut for the hitch receiver but bad weather and my trip south for the winter halted the installation and a bunch of...
Yes, worth the price. I know there are many loud and grumbling detractors on here about these things, but I know for me, my two previous truck had heavy tailgates and had dampening built into the hinges. I got used to being able to just pull the handle and let it drop. Being used to that, the...
OK, got it, thank you! I was trying to squeeze the nubs together and then slide it out toward the back rather than toward the bottom. Now I'll get the job done.
